Off the Grid -- SG
I found parts of it quite enjoyable, but what's not to like with the guys in tight leather and tied up, not to mention whumped? I do wish they'd limit the 'banter' to on the base on not on a mission. Having SG1 make light hearted asides while being beaten really removes any sense of danger to the characters.
I did find it interesting that Daniel went in search of a doctor when he got back to base. His face must be hurting him. Actually, MS was the only actor that seemed to be following up with the after effects
of being beaten for 2 days. Anyway, it kind of conflicts with fanon that Daniel hates to receive medical care.
I liked all the action this time, probably because there were the four team members being together through it. Ba'al is always a delight and ooh, I loved that outfit he had on. I wonder if all the Ba'als
evacuated together or separately?
Unfortunately, I think the conflict resolution had too many plot holes. How did Mitchell get away from the baddies at the begining? If SG1 couldn't be beamed out of the Ba'al's ship, how would the gates
have been? Carter reprogramming a DHD in a really short time? The Odyssey already on a shakedown cruise and being able to beam SG1 out of danger while the bullets are in mid-flight? The Odyssey is a new
design, isn't it? Seems like there's less of high profile deck. Maybe that's why the TPTB took out the Prometheus, they wanted to redesign the ships? Well, at least this one was able to leave before
taking any fire. I love the expression on the new captain's face when the three Alliance ships showed up. It was so, "this can't be happening!"
ETA: Ahh! The gates were beamed out but not SG1 since they had already left by gate travel. Got it.
Anyway, I was entertained and enjoyed all the eye candy.

The leather was...well, I'm speechless. The plotholes were there, but mostly easily explained. (Except for the gates going up and not the people...but maybe the Odyssey crew were more willing to take risks with beaming non-living items)
The Odyssey bugs me, because I really hoped we would be totally ship-less and go back to the stargates for transportation and not rely on the butt-ugly always-there-to-save-the-day spacecraft that these ptb seem so fond of. Oh well.
But the team was great, the villains were unique, the planet was at least not the same Kelowna-clone, and I liked the crazy corn. :)
Lots of fun! I think we're definitely on an upswing!

When I re-watched it, the gates were all beamed out but one, hinting that Sam had already taken the locator off that one and they had used it to get out. Actually, since a stargate can take a direct hit from an meteor, and suck out the innards of a sun, it should have survived the ship blowing up.
I know exactly what you mean about more gate travel, less space ships.
I liked the head Alliance guy. Very menacing and dangerous. Hopefully we'll see him again.
I too, liked the crazy corn. It's just the sort of non-sequitur that the universe does throw at you. When Mitchell asked the room at large if they'd tasted his momma's cooking, I thought Daniel's reply and inflection showed irritation and was dismissive. I don't think Daniel and Mitchell will becoming best buds anytime soon.

I was entertained and enjoyed all the eye candy -- me too. :-)
