Shaken, not stirred.

I was up late last night trying to collect all the gateverse remixes last night, and thus was still sleeping when our earthquake hit.  Usually, I lay there and think, "should I get up?  Is it worth getting up for?"  This time it was more, "CRAP!  Get me outta this bed!"  We had a few things fall off of the shelves, but nothing broke that I know of.  It was a 5.4 centered about ten miles from me.  The most damage was to Brindle's psyche; he didn't know which way to run, and we had to hold him for about a half an hour.  Right now he's sitting on Mom's feet.  His trouble is he's too smart.  Cats usually just look up and double check if they should be doing something; he's smart enough to understand the earth shouldn't be doing this and that rattles him.

Well, I guess I should start on my Friday con report now that I'm up.

Yeah, that was a tad scary I thought! I was sitting on the couch, and I didn't get up when everything started rolling. Only a few pictures moved though, which was good. The tank had waves but nothing came out. That was my first thought as I was looking at it...please don't break! But, it's very heavy, so that stopped it jiggling to the edge of the table. The cats didn't even move, well, it was in the middle of their nap time after all. LOL.
I always think after these things, 'I am so ill prepared!'. Yes, I have food, but no water really.
Yes, get on with your Friday report...some of us are waiting! What's a gateverse remix?

The remix is where writers sign up. You get assigned another writer. You take one of their stories and do something to it, maybe retell it from a different perspective, or what happened later--stuff like that. And someone does the same for one of your stories. I'm really behind in reading stories, but I like to collect them as they show up.

I'll start soon on the report.

You guys are both closer to Chino than I am, but we felt it plenty in Santa Monica. Seemed to last a long time. I'm glad it was a roller, not a shaker. It was actually making me dizzy and queasy. One of my co-workers actually screamed, in front of a patient. Hee. A PITA, though, was that later in the afternoon we kept losing power - lights would go off, etc. and when I left work all the traffic lights were out and it took me an extra half an hour just to get close to home. I don't suppose it had anything to do with the quake, but I don't know.

Loss of power? Really? That seems odd, but who knows?

We were on the cusp between roll and shake. It was a very vigorous roll/bump. *g*
