Well, two things (since there's much to be said for positive reframing): 1) it's going to give Michael Shanks stuff to do that he'll probably get a real kick out of, and 2) it will also hopefully give him a bunch of screentime. I hope. And hopefully the others will get to act like they give a crap about him, but that may be a step too far... ;)

I believe I've also read that spoiler for SG-1. I'm convinced that it's the end of the world as we know it. I can hear REM singing in the background already. *g*

(Actually, in all seriousness, I do think it's the worst spoiler I've ever read about the show.*g*)

I think I'm just going to pretend that SG-1 doesn't exist for a while.
