Escapade tomorrow

I've just come out of a long work stretch and am totally unprepared to leave for the con tomorrow. AND there's a big storm coming through about the time I'll be leaving...and isn't that typical?

So, instead of packing my clothes, I'm downloading fiction to load on my PDA. As for the swap table, I do have at least two dvds I'll never watch again (The Secret Window and Narnia.) There's got to be a few other things here that need to go to a good home. Tivo is loaded with stuff I haven't seen: Rome, Heroes, Boston Legal, NCIS, Desperate Housewives and Without a Trace, not to mention the latest SG1 on the computer. There's also Lost, but I'm so disinterested that I don't care if it falls off Tivo.

So much to do and so little time.

Oh wait, let me google for Thai restaurants in Ventura!

Btw, wasn't Craig Ferguson's monologue a breath of fresh air? Lately, it's been disturbing how cruel the press/media can be when faced with a celebrity that is self-destructing in front of their lens. It's a relief to hear someone state they won't be exploiting another person's confusion and pain simply to make a few jokes.

And lastly for the SG1 fans here, did you know that there's a 1 in 43,000 chance that Apophis will smite the Earth on April 13, 2036?

An asteroid may come uncomfortably close to Earth in 2036 and the United Nations should assume responsibility for a space mission to deflect it, a group of astronauts, engineers and scientists said.

The 20-million-tonne asteroid could be heading the way towards Kamchatkans and Venezuelans. Californians have even more reason to worry the asteroid is more likely to hit the Pacific Ocean, triggering a tsunami that could devastate the west coast of North America.

Calculations show it would strike somewhere along a narrow track that stretches eastward from Siberia to the west coast of Africa. Astronomers are monitoring the asteroid named Apophis, which has a 1 in 45,000 chance of striking Earth on April 13, 2036.

Couldn't they have named it Ba'al? *g*

Haven't seen the monologue by Ferguson - hopefully it'll get loaded up to youtube. (Alas, I don't have cable, so I miss the US shows that are only on cable here.) But it's nice to know he has said it... now if only the rest of them and the paparazzi would follow suit.

Hope you have a great weekend, hon... looking forward to seeing you soon!

*hugs*

Well, at least it isn't named Anubis; it'd be hard to take seriously then.

Here's an article about Craig Ferguson. It has video there, but it crashes my browser.

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/02/21/earlyshow/leisure/celebspot/main2498408.shtml

He said he'd made a few jokes about Kevin Costner when he'd had an incident of some kind. Then he ran into the guy at a party where he was there with his wife and kids. He said he could tell Costner was upset with him but that the man decided to be civil instead...and it got Craig to thinking because he felt uncomfortable about what he'd said and thought about how those jokes affect people. Ferguson is very honest, very upfront about things.

I doubt the media will let her alone. I swear it's like watching a train wreck in slow motion.

And I do look forward to next month! I notice the shows shot in Vancouver all have snow in them. Looks like they've had a cold winter.

The weekend will be relaxing. A nice beachy town and a slash con. Just what I need!

Hugs!

Well, yeah! I mean, you can get new clothes anywhere, but what happens if you get stuck somewhere and run out of things to read? Horrors!
