More Raccoon fun
May. 10th, 2004 01:41 amI just have to tell what I saw tonight. I lobbed an egg out to this raccoon. She must of thought I looked
suspicious because she gathered up the egg and moved off the stoop to eat it. The trouble was that
the egg cracked in such a way that it looked whole, but the yoke slipped out and was left on the stoop.
She moved a few feet away and began to gnaw on the end of the egg. She took a bigger bite of shell,
looked puzzled, then reached deep into the egg with her cute little hand. Not feeling that yummie goodness, she turned the shell up like a cup so she could look inside and I swear her expression was, "What the hell
is this?! Where's my yoke!!"
She did find it a minute later, though. And there was plenty of peanut shucking fun, too. I keep meaning
to toss some boiled eggs out to them to see what they would do.

Date: 2004-05-10 12:26 pm (UTC)The raccoons are like mischievious little 5 years running amok. They can be a little destructive, but from there pov, they're just having fun. Plants can be replaced so we don't fret too much, besides, the raccoons are so entertaining, it's worth the cost of a few unlucky plants. The hard part is seeing them hurt or sick and not being able to help them. We started giving them eggs because of the nutrients and they're good for their immune systems.
