I've been 'giving Escapade a rest' since the cost of the con itself as well as the cost of hotel rooms in general went up a few years ago, beyond my "for fun" budget. If I had continued getting as much enjoyment out of the con experience, I suppose I would have dug deep, but I didn't, for several reasons, fandom specifics being only one of those reasons. Too many of the panels I wanted to attend being scheduled 'against' each other was another factor, year after year, not just occasionally. And more personal issues too. Not being heavily involved in one of the few major fandoms doesn't help either. The vid shows hadn't impressed me for years before I stopped going, but that's just me. I like to see slashy vids in fandoms I enjoy, and I wasn't getting that. But that's just me. I'm not wanting to just trash the Escapade experience, but explaining that you are not alone in not having had that great a time.
