Happy Birthday, Daniel Jackson!
Jul. 8th, 2008 03:38 pmI do miss keeping up with your life on the tv, but at least I can monitor your adventures via fanfic. Keep up the good work of saving the team/earth/galaxy and having sweetly intimate moments with Jack and Teal'c. You are loved and respected.
Have a great year and please, please, please, try not to die again. Jack can't handle that anymore.
Love,
Tenaya

Date: 2008-07-09 12:58 am (UTC)I just finished re-watching all of seasons 9 & 10 on DVD, with occasional commentaries, so I'm in an SG-1 mood even. Looking forward to Continuum and Daniel on Atlantis.

Date: 2008-07-10 04:35 pm (UTC)The very ending was a bit dumb, as Sam gets rather short shrift from the SGC.
Sam worked out as well as I had hoped she would as a commanding officer, and fortunately not as I had feared. They didn't have her overshadow everyone or be Little Miss Know-It-All. They left that responsibility to McKay, as it should be. LOL Unfortunately, this made Sam's character a bit boring. People who hadn't seen SG-1 were rather "meh" about Sam--she was just there.
Since Sam and Sheppard were both military, and both pretty good strategists, they didn't have too much conflict. While this would be great in real life, for TV it's a bit boring. I think the new Commander could be interesting and there will be some genuine conflict there. I wouldn't want to be working for him, but to watch on TV it should be interesting! (g)

Date: 2008-07-10 08:56 pm (UTC)In hindsight about Sam, it kinda supports the theory that she muscled into the show because she had a 2 year contract and they were gonna have to pay her anyway for that last year. She's there but they don't actually use her dramatically in any way, so I doubt that the writers said, "if we put Carter there, we can do this, and this and this." Her year is up and she's got another project, Sanctuary to go to. I haven't seen it, but I would have thought the gig on SGA would have been preferred if she could keep it.
I don't much care for Woosley but dramatically, he's got legs. And I do like the actor.

Date: 2008-07-11 12:17 am (UTC)I think that, too, but she's the "star" on Sanctuary. Or at least that's the way TV Guide makes it seem. Lead actor in a series is a pretty good cred, I guess. And, I know nothing about the money, but perhaps being the lead (even for a shorter run) pays more.
Also, perhaps Amanda was looking for something new, or perhaps she also realized she wasn't being used enough in Atlantis.
You are correct about Woolsey. I don't like his character much either, but Picardo is great. Woolsey must be as boring as he seems. His office decoration on Atlantis is a lot of books--tomes more like. With ONE photo--of his dog. (I know you'd like that part!)

Date: 2008-07-11 05:20 am (UTC)I think with how the SGA actors reacted to the change and how it all went down, I think my theory makes sense. *g*
And I did love the doggy pic! God only knows what all those books are, fiction? Books to impress and look good, but that's kinda Woosley, too.
