More drama (yawn)
Dec. 10th, 2004 05:52 pmIll Grandmother can't be found; GG's family don't return his calls and his boss obviously doesn't trust him. GG's stay extended to Monday.
I woke up to the sound of the bath tub filling and GG talking on his cell phone. He was calling work to tell them he was trying to get someone to take his shift for him. His side of the conversation was peppered with things like, "But I have changed" and "My Grandmother is in the hospital, I only found out yesterday. She's at Huntington Memorial...you can call there yourself if you don't believe me." I felt bad about that catty remark I made her last night about that he should be trying to see his Grandma.
As I made lunch, he said how his boss's fiance (who he told us a few days ago people at work had started a rumor that he and her were having an affair) had volunteered to take him 25 miles away to visit his Grandma. I suggested he call the hospital and find out what the visiting hours were and where she was. The hospital said the last time she was admitted was over a year ago. We called a couple other hospitals nearby, but Grandma wasn't there either. He called his brother and aunt (who is Grandma's caretaker) but either would return his calls. He did get today off, but was so stressed about the whole thing he went out and took a nap. Strangely, I was more than happy for that because he'd been in here for nearly 3 hours describing all his family drama and work drama and housing drama and I was just frigging exhausted by all the frigging drama. I finally had to say I was leaving as I had a ton of errands to run and it was getting late (like a stop at the hardware store to replace the bathtub plug he shattered. Did he offer to pay?? Noooooo....)
So, the errands are done and he came in and sponged dinner off us. Mom just won't say no. The good news is that the guy with the basement called and wanted GG to come over tomorrow and help paint. GG said he'd get back to him, then to us, he just quoted a lot of reasons why he couldn't. I started pointing out that he could get up early and do at least 4 hours of painting before he had to get ready for work. After his nap, he called the man back, and surprise, they will be painting on Sunday, instead.
I know I said Sunday was the last night he could stay, but now, because of paint fumes, it looks to be Monday. I said his belongings wouldn't mind the paint fumes and we could drive those over on Sunday night. He said, "Um..." and changed the subject. I said he could get the keys to the place on Sunday right? He looked surprised at the idea.
So, Grandma wasn't visited today, and in fact, we don't know if Grandma was even sick (or exists, come to that.) The fiance never called to say she could take GG to hospital, so that might have been a bunch of bull, too. Come Monday it will have been 4 weeks that he's been here. The cats all hid in my room today and I've not seen any raccoons for more than 3 weeks.
He is really beginning to piss me off.
