Boston Legal, Serenity, and a cat tale

tenayaThis show is so wonderful. Aside from all the great snips at Bush, aside from all the innuendo, I also adore how unabashedly it's becoming a buddy show. I've *so* missed this genre.
Oh, I finally saw Serenity. I loved how scary the Reaver stuff was and loved the performances. That was a great moment when they led the Reaver horde into the awaiting ambush for them. The one thing I don't understand is why Wash was killed. Whedon appears to be found of having unexpected sudden death befall someone who is in a loving relationship. His death seemed very odd from a pacing point. It was between two intense fight/flight scenes. I mean, I do like Wash and wish he hadn't been killed. It seemed the only way Wash's death affected anything was to make the viewer hope Zoey didn't commit suicide in her determination to get revenge. I suppose this has already been talked to death in the Serenity fan areas, but I haven't gone over there.
Reg came in from being outside maybe 20 minutes. He seemed fine, nice and calm, but he had something white just beneath his eye. To get it off, I had to pivot it out and down. It was a cat claw casting, of an entire claw and the tip had gone over the lip of his bottom eyelid, curved in and was piercing the lid, inside to outside. His eye seems fine, just a little trace of blood on the inside of his eyelid. He purred and blinked and gave me couple of big ol' nuzzles, but he won't tell me who did this to him! Very bizzare!
