Boston Legal
Nov. 9th, 2005 12:18 amYet another delightful episode! I do enjoy NCIS and House, but Boston Legal is pure enjoyment. I was reading a column of TV Guide's Matt Roush and between what he said and his readers said, I guess some folks don't like it because it comes across as preachy because the characters line up and give a speech about their view. While that format is correct, it doesn't seem preachy to me because of how it's done. I am constantly surprised by the characters and the situations, and am thrilled by the boldness of the writing. It's very political but the strokes are so broad, I laugh even when they are making fun of things I agree with (and of course, when they make fun of the other side, I'm gleeful.) Alan and Denny are fun and quite sweet together. I'm just totally charmed by the whole package.
I loved the balcony scene. "You waited up for me." I loved it when Denny said he was thinking of running for mayor and Alan said they wouldn't be able to be flamingos again. Denny was quick to reassure him they would be able to. So sweet. I swear for a second I thought Denny was leaning forward to kiss Alan. The B plot about beastiality was quite amusing, too. And watching Alan struggle with his fear of clowns was wonderful. It was nice to see him do more than look smug or amused. "You do have issues, don't you?" He he he!
House
Very slashy that bit about House running an experiment on Wilson to see how much money he could borrow, how much their friendship was worth. I loved Wilson's comeback. Interesting that he'd said that House looked good unshaven. *g*
Well, I have to go to bed now. Reg has to be nothing by mouth for 12 hours before his ultrasound and it's about time for him to get up and demand food. Maybe if I'm not here, he'll go back to bed quicker and sleep through his hunger. I have to say I'd love to be a fly on the wall while they do this. Apparently the bladder is included in the procedure so I imagine they'll run their probe over his tummy. Reg is very proper; he thinks tummy rubbing is inappropriate touch. The poor cat will be scandalized!
Anyway, I've got that new Daniel/Teal'c zine to read. Whoo hoo!

Date: 2005-11-09 03:53 am (UTC)House was also good, I loved the Wilson conversations and House being like a kid with his new toy and even the parent thing but what I got annoyed at was Cameron, she really is just a nasty little piece of work. Somebody needs to put her in her place once and for all. Still one of my do not miss shows :-)
NCIS was good this week and we actually saw DiNozzo being the capable agent I'm sure Gibbs hired. Of course Ducky in a tuxedo (how does the man manage to look younger this year then last year?) was a bonus and the Tobias and Jethro scene had me grinning from ear to ear. Tobias and Jethro people, really. Just watch that scene again it's Tobias/Jethro!
Good luck with Reg.

Date: 2005-11-09 10:25 am (UTC)If only cats knew how irresistable they are when they display their tummies! Teases, all of them. Reg is very loving, but he is the epitome of properness, and he'll scold us if need be. Tummy touching...very, very inappropriate! He wasn't happy this morning but at least he's there now. Hopefully he'll be home soon.

Date: 2005-11-09 10:29 am (UTC)I've been wondering about the subtext of the show. Is flamingos some sort of code about being a couple? They're obviously playing with us, but is this becoming like "going fishing" became in SG fanon?

Date: 2005-11-09 10:42 am (UTC)You're right about the humor negating the preachiness. One has to be able to laugh at oneself! Maybe that's what wrong with the other viewers, they're too caught up with what's PC and take themselves too seriously.
I gather Cameron is the 'babe' and is there for the guy viewers to lust after. So, my question is, do men find her interference entertaining? It seems pathetic to me. She is so irritating.
I've only been watching NCIS since MediaWest, and I have to say, this is the first time I've been impressed by DiNozzo, first time I've seen that he is functional. Ducky looked damn fine in the tux, and yes, that was the youngest he's looked in years. Yum! The Tobias and Jethro seen was brilliant and such a relief. I get so tired of people/characters in a pissing contest. Again, the unexpected is delightful. As for Tobias/Jethro, maybe there needs to be a secluded, romantic hotel somewhere, where men and drink their cognac, smoke cigars and stare dreamily into each other's eyes. *g*

Date: 2005-11-09 02:41 pm (UTC)Hubby hates Cameron he thinks she's a whiny, meddling annoyance who needs to get a life but then Hubby doesn't like what most guys seem to like *grin*
Every now and then DiNozzo shows us why he's an NCIS agent but mostly he's annoying. And yes I loved the meeting in the elevator and the mock fight it was great. Forget the romantic hotel we should send those two to the same fishing lodge as the one the boys used in Boston Legal, it worked wonders for those two and should work for Tobias/Jethro ;-)

Date: 2005-11-09 04:48 pm (UTC)If Reg doesn't like his tummy touched then I feel sorry for the person who's going to have to restrain him during the procedure <g>
Good luck to him and you!!

Date: 2005-11-09 05:05 pm (UTC)Unfortuntately, they moved up his ultrasound from tomorrow and I have to go to work now, and therefore can't talk to the vet. Not too happy about that as mom will do it, but she doesn't listen too well and likes to play these little word games I'm getting increasingly irritated with. You have to ask the exact question to get an answer; no filling in the blanks, no offering info. I'm frustrated.

I was wondering if DiNozzo served any purpose aside from sexually harrassing co-workers and witnesses.

Date: 2005-11-13 12:45 pm (UTC)I'm sure his passivity and compliance is one of the reasons the staff like him so much. And the purring. Actually, the vet tech that returned him to Mom said nice things about him. Said that he'd chirp at her everytime she passed the cage and said hello to him, but after a while, he turned his back on her. He was probably asking for something to eat and got annoyed at being ignored. *g*
As for what I know, I won't repeat it here, but I made a post about it on Nov. 10.
