TV shows

I've been mainlining TV shows to catch up with the Tivo backlog, so this will be brief.

Nip/Tuck: It continues to be a very entertaining show. Last week, I was very agitated that they might be promoting Scientology. If they do that, it would actually be enough to make me skip this arc. We'll see. As usual, they flip the characters about to fit the plot, but that's part and parcel of the show. Sean sleeps with the babysitter. Okay.... I thought that would probably happen but I am still disgusted with him. And I was really taken aback by how much loathing the girl had for herself and her looks. Lipstick on a pig? I'd hoped Sean would give her some support instead of just cutting into her because of his guilt. Jerk.

On the bright side, it looks like Peter Dinklage will be on a few episodes. I really like him in Threshold and really liked what he had to say to Julia. Good for him.

Boston Legal: Oh, my. I love this show, every single frame of it. I love the legal arguements, the recurring characters and the relationships, but most of all I love Alan, Denny and Shirley. I'm actually relieved Marlane is not going to be a regular. She's fun, but she brought an energy that would be difficult to deal with over a whole year.

Anyway, I adore Alan and felt so sorry for him. We got to hear a little bit about his relationship with his mom when he was young. He was affection starved; I guess that explains a lot, really. But there at the end, when he asked Denny if he ever felt alone. I thought he was actually going to press his suit of Denny if Denny admitted to it. I think Alan died a little inside when Denny denied being lonely, and I think Denny knew exactly what Alan was asking. He'll help Alan but he does have a line, at least in this episode. Alan was reaching out of more intimacy with Denny. What a delightful show!

House: I've been liking the new episodes. What I remember most about the first ep had to do with people not accepting House had changed. Cameron wanted to examine House's motives for helping the brain cancer guy, but she did it in a chiding/unpleasant way. Cuddy's decision to not give the injection was medically wrong. Medicine is both an art and a science and if a possible tx is cheap and not harmfull, a good doctor would try it because you never know. Strange stuff happens all the time. And Wilson's choice to keep House from knowing the tx had enabled that pt to stand up and resume his life was reprehensible. It was both petty and a desperate attempt to control House. Certainly a good friend would not have done that. If I was writing slash for this show, that dynamic really hints at a hidden agenda by Wilson. I've not seen the latest ep, so I'm interested to see how this plays out.

SGA: McKay and Mrs. Miller. Oh my god! Ace McKay! Leather jacket, popular and cheerfully volunteering for a suicide mission. Loved it!

Eureka: I am enjoying this show as I love quirky characters. I'm still pissed at SciFi for cancelling SG-1 and had decided not to support the station by watching their favorite child shows, but I really do like Eureka. I'm pretty sure I'm not going to follow Battlestar Gallactica anymore. It was a lot of work to watch it and I really only liked the Cylon Boomer.

Dead Zone: I was pretty wowed by their choice to have this mysterious and dangerous group of religous nuts that are pushing an agenda of the apolcalpse. Wow. I actually felt sorry for Greg Stillson. A nice surprise there.

It's always a bit nervewracking when there's a new season... ;)

My Alan/Denny love remains untarnished. Now I would just like Brad to actually have a storyline this year, because I was starting to wonder if he'd survive to season 3 in light of how little he's had to do other than as a bit player in both Paul and Denise's stories.

Yes, I thought he was going to run in politics. He's such a straight man here and I think that limits him.
