Varmit report
Dec. 2nd, 2006 04:16 pmMomma coon and babies came back last night and were so amusing that we quit watching Dexter and Heroes at times to watch them. Even though it was fairly cold out, Momma and the babies insisted on getting into the water bowls and splashing about. She has one bold baby and one shy one; stereotyping encouraging me to id them as a boy and a girl (bad Tenaya!) Nonetheless, the boy was fascinated by the glass patio door last night. Maybe he saw his reflection or just was curious about the properties of glass but it was pretty funny anyway. He's raising himself up on his little back legs and alternately make himself look big or press his little hands and nose against the glass. He also found the dragon shoebrush thing and spent a long time fingering the bristles. And he wanted to feel up the skunk tails and would reach for them, but the skunks would stomp and he'd draw back and immediately try again. Brindle was out and when he came by, momma put her head down and stared at him, which made me get up in case she charged him. Brindle just sat down and pretended he didn't see anyone, momma or babies. Apparently the disinterested body language worked and she soon forgot him. Interspecies communication at work. Momma should be one of Cutiepie's babies which means that she should have been exposed to Brindle when she was a baby and know that he's harmless. Perhaps it was just the hyper protective instincts overriding what she knows in her head.
