I noticed that when Brindle kneaded me, he wasn't leaving a rash from his razor sharp claws. Curious, I finally examined them and found out that all the claws on his front feet, save for one dew claw, are now rough nubs. Like he used them on something rough and it 'sanded' them down more than halfway. He's virtually defenseless with no claws at this time. That probably explains why he is not wanting to leave the bedroom at all. He's a smart one. I really shudder to think what the hell happened to him.

Maybe he was accidentally shut in somewhere, and tried desperately to get out?

Maybe the storm drain? The trash containers that had droplets of blood on them are right below the chimney. I wonder if he vaulted on the containers and then climbed the bricks and stucco?

Too bad you can't ask him! Or rather, too bad you can't understand his answer ;-)

I'm behind on flist again, but I'm really happy to hear he's back. :)

As for the claws, trust me he's not defenseless. All three of our cats are declawed and our indoor/outdoor cat is still the neighborhood bully.

Sounds like he's had enough of a scare he's come to his senses (at least temporarily) regarding where exactly he should be keeping himself.

It is odd the claws would be ground down that far in such a short period, though. Definitely sounds like he was scrabbling to get out of something.
