Comic Con Friday
Jul. 27th, 2007 04:38 pmFirst, I browsed for freebies at Scifi, Warner Brothers and other places. I didn't get much. SciFi didn't seem to be giving away any SG stuff (big surprise there--not.) Some Eureka stuff. MGM had a few small posters for SGA and Ark of Truth. Heroes had a Vote Petrelli button and a temp skin tat. I didn't really find anything that had to do with SPN, save for some flyers for the S2 trading cards, which looked pretty good if you're into pretty boys (I know, I know...a limited audience with you lot.)
The teasers for SG1 and SGA looked pretty damn good, but the images are so fast you can't really get any context for it. I suppose this is old news but SGA will shown in Sept. AoT will be in the spring and Continum fall of 2008. The big news would be that Judge's show Rage of Angels has been picked up, but now I couldn't tell you if it's for a pilot or a series. He also didn't mention casting. Shanks wasn't here today. Judge called him on his cell phone and it took multiple times before it would connect, and then it turned out he was in the bathroom. Too funny.
One thing I didn't realise was that in There but for the Grace of God, Carter was made a civilian because they wanted Jack and Sam to kiss and the USAF said nope, not even if Jack was going off to his death. So they made her a civilian and then just had them hug anyway. When their consultant read the Foothold script, which had an alien incursion that got out of hand, he said, nope, that would never happen. Cooper asked if he was referring to the Stargate or the alien invasion and the guy said they would never let the aliens escape the installation. And Cooper said listening to him, he believed him.
They all had some good stories about filming in the Arctic and making fun of Judge's aversion to bears. He corrected them and said he had an aversion to being eaten by a bear.
The SGA panel was good, too, but honestly, there wasn't any really good tidbits and they wouldn't answer many direct questions about anything new. If I think of anything I'll post it. I took some pics and will put them up later as I'm using the Sheraton's computer.
I wandered around for a bit more, bought a few things and finally gave it up for today. It was pretty darn crowded. Since today was supposedly sold out, I'm hoping tomorrow won't have more density than today. And strangely enough, it wasn't the hellhole it usually is. Warm and humid but not debilitating.
I better go off now and find my dinner companions.

Date: 2007-07-28 01:49 am (UTC)Heavens, yes. Wanting to keep the Air Force happy is the only thing that stopped them from giving us lots of S/J angst, IMO.

Date: 2007-07-29 06:49 am (UTC)I see that SCAT's hair is shoulder length in SGA. While I realize that that show doesn't have a relationship with the USAF, I still can't help being weirded out by it. It's like Carter is saying, "hey, I'm in another galaxy and I'm in charge; I'll do what I want." It's weird.
I guess we'll just have to say what they make of it on the show itself.
