Heroes was okay.

It's kinda like starting a book at chapter one. Lots of reestablishing the characters as four months had past since the last episode. It has a lot of potential, some interesting new characters, some twists on the regulars. There was a lot of set up, but not much delivery. Hopefully they won't overplay that story device. I've been sensitized to it from Lost and have poor tolerance to being teased.

Journeyman seems worth sticking with so far.

I do like Kevin McKidd and the mystery of what was happening was intriguing but not in a gripping sort of way. I felt a little claustrophobic as to what was causing all this--I wanted the big picture not the rat in the maze picture. I think this might jell into something worth spending a hour watching. The man character is smart; I don't feel like he is totally a puppet for a higher power. Oh, I finally remembered this kinda reminds me of Quantum Leap. I do want to watch more.

Chuck: I'm watching it now and am having a very hard time keeping my attention on it. I tivoed it because it has Adam Baldwin and the plot was something about him protecting a government geek. I think my consumption of Jack/Daniel AUs has raised my expectations.

Okay, I started to ff at 12 minutes. And I think Adam Baldwin will just have to be in something else if I'm going to see him act. In my mind, he's still teamleader on an SGC team, exploring the galaxy.
Chuck = reject!

I saw him in Angel first, and then Firefly, so I was tickled when he showed up in SG-1. To me he'll always be a man called Jayne *g*

I watched Angel; was he a Wolfram and Hart lawyer? I first noticed and like what he was doing in Firefly. Loved him in SG1. I wanted to know more about that team. Actually, the teaser for next week had AB undercover as a fellow employee at that store. I think I'll give it one more try.

Yes, he was the conduit to the Senior Partners at the end of Season 5. Shame he didn't get more screentime in SG1. It seems to be a place where loads of Sci-Fi actors pop up in bit parts (I'm thinking Grace Park as... was it Lt Satterfield?) and some of them you wished you'd seen more of.

Yeah. "Makepeace" was just on Eureka. *g*

Now I remember him in Angel.

BTW, I love your icon.

How was Eureka? Was Shanks good (or hot) in it? :o)

Ah, leather pants. I actually got Michael and Chris to discuss the leather pants from that ep at the Burbank con in 2005. *slurp*

Well, a bit disappointing because his role was so small. He looked really good, though.

That's a shame. I got the impression he was going to be in more than just a couple of scenes.

I gave up on Journeyman about forty minutes in. As soon as he substituted himself for his ten-year younger self and no one noticed. Who looks the same (only tired!) ten years later? Or fits into the same clothes? THere were other things too, but at the moment, that's all I can think of.

My sister and I watched together, so we may have gotten into the nit-picking a little too enthusiastically. Still, while I recognize the fact that they're using the same people to play themselves at two different ages, it's something I guess I have a problem with.

I had the same problem with Chuck.

There were a few things that made me go, "what?" including where he goes back to the table as his younger self. It should get better. I do like the cast and the writing didn't consist of mugging for the camera and fart jokes. Sad to say that's enough to get me to give it another go.

I fast forwarded through 3/4 of Chuck. It looked horrible.

Yeah, I got the Quantum Leap vibe from the previews of Journeyman. His ex-fiance being in the loop was an unexpected twist.

What's funny is when I first saw this fellow (I don't know him from other things) I thought he looked kinda like Reed Diamond...and then I see the credits and see "Reed Diamond." I think casting those two actors as brothers was really smart. I'm finding the show intriguing so far. I agree, there were some shaky spots, but I'm hoping those'll work themselves out now that the characters have been established.

Chuck...not so much. I like Adam Baldwin (and hey, Lord Haikon!), but the plot was cliche, and the stereotypes were grating. This was done much better when it was Jake 2.0. I knew it was a bad sign when I was laughing "at" the show...as in "this is so stupid" rather than "this is so funny."

I was thoroughly enjoying Heroes. (Compare BigGlassesMan in the copy center to not-BestBuy in Chuck and the difference in quality is striking). Is this the first time we know MamaPetrelli's name? And I enjoyed the twist in Hiro's timeline story (you know he's going to be the hero he heard about). And was I the only one who saw peeping Tomflying boy wondered if Nathan's just being an old dawg. I know the heroes gene doesn't correspond to the same powers in family lines, but still... It would strain credulity, but it still amuses me.

I should probably make my own post about this instead of just spamming yours with my comments. Hee!

Yeah, I had the same thought about Nathan being that kid's real dad. Hey, you never know! But it's been established (I think) that powers aren't necessarily the same when they get passed on down the generational line.

Nathan: flying
Claire's bio-mom: firestarter
Claire: near-instant healing

None of those powers seem related at all. It would have been logical if she was a Human Torch, fresh out of The Fantastic Four comic books, but nope.

No one's asked about Hiro's mother. She's never been mentioned, that I can remember. He had to get it from someone, and yet, we've *never* seen Angela Petrelli or Hiro's Sulu!Dad use their own powers. Perhaps they can't. Perhaps whatshisname from series one, the Clockwork Orange guy, changed them at the genetic level so they couldn't work their powers.

Hmm. I had thought Angela's powers were precognition dreams, because that was one of the early powers Peter exhibited.

But wait, was that determined to be hospice dude's power?

Now is confused.

Yeah, the dead fiance time traveling was a really nice twist.

The lead actor was the lead in "Rome" and he was fantastic. He was a man of convictions that went though hell. I liked Reed Diamond and looked him up on the IMDB; he's been in many shows I watch but I can't put my finger on any specific role I've seen him in before. I think the show is solid enough that it will get better.

I'm gonna give Chuck one more chance but I'll just be watching the Adam Baldwin parts.

Heroes...I admit to not being fannish about it. When I'm fannish, I'll write stories and try to make sense of it all. With Heroes I just sit and enjoy it. *g* I saw the flying classmate and made a rude joke about Clark Kent. *g* You're probably right about Hiro being or setting up the Takezo Sensei legend.

I liked Journeyman, though I was so excited about the return of Heroes that I had to make myself stop thinking about Heroes in order to watch Journeyman. I didn't grab Chuck because (I am half-embarrassed to say) it conflicts with How I Met Your Mother and I have a 2 year relationship with that show that I can't ignore. Besides Enrique Iglesias was on HIMYM last night and he's just teh pretteh.

You didn't miss much with Chuck.

Were you happy with Heroes? Who are your favorite characters? I like Hiro and Ando so I'm bummed they are separated. Interesting development with the Petrelli brothers. I like Clair's father setting limits with his bully boss. *g*

Fave characters on Heroes is both difficult and not at all. For example, I love Hiro and Ando and cannot wait for the reunion. After that, I like Mohinder and Claire's dad but I also love George Takei and Nathan and Peter. It's easier to say that I don't love Niki and DL, though Micah is totally a little cutie. I hope this season is as good as last season. On the whole, I was pleased with the premiere, though I agree it's sad that Hiro and Ando are split up. And while I'm happy to see David Anders work, I am not thrilled with the white guy=super-cool Japanese hero from history.

I did miss Boston Legal, though I heard that all the secondary characters have been replaced. Does this mean that Brad is gone, too?

The firm has two new female lawyers and a new male partner. One of the women, Katie, has an English accent and is fresh from law school. She ends up with a murder trial and her opponent is Brad, so I guess he's working for the DA now.

Yeah, I was all "oh pleeeeze!" when Kensei turned out to be a white guy. :::sigh:::
