"Ugly Betty" was a lot of fun. Yeah, they've a lot of daddy issues coming up and it was over the top, but I find that stuff funny. Loved the monster movie bits on the roof top. And I really love that Mark and Justin are getting along so well.
"Pushing Daisies" was pretty good, too. I was concerned that this bringing to back to life for one minute was going to be icky, but it was okay. There was a narrator that reminded me of a cross between the narration of "Desperate Housewives" and "The Princess Bride." In fact, the tone of the whole show was very much like the telling of a fairy tale. It was actually kind of charming. Unlike other shows that I think I'll need to stick with for a few eps before they find their sea legs, I liked this one immediately.
"Moonlight" was better, though I wonder how Mick has managed to stay alive all this time.
"NCIS," "Boston Legal," "House," "Heroes," "Journey Man," and "Dirty, Sexy Money" all turned in solid episodes. Loved that "Jacob" was on "House" and Mayborne was on "Smallville." So, THAT'S where you went!
Even "Reaper" got a little better.
Criminal Minds: Okay, THANK YOU for not killing off Gideon. That would have traumatized both Reid and myself.
Supernatural: Wow, the flist is very divided.
Actually, I didn't much like Dean when I first started watching the show; to me, he's kind of regressed to what he was and more, or should I say less? That's too bad, I was liking him a lot last season.
The Seven Deadly Sins should have been The Seven Jolly Sins. I didn't like that their mythology was ignored: Gluttony touched that guy and he fell under his spell enough to drink draino. Why didn't Dean become that way when Lust touched him?
The new chick was annoying; I've always hated those situations where someone arrives, saves a life and says something 'witty' and leaves. "Who was that masked man?!" It's cliche and it's weak. It doesn't leave me intrigued, it leaves me dreading the return of the precious. Besides, she spoiled an otherwise lovely moment where Sam was in trouble and looking deliciously worried.

Oh, look, they're copying, er "homaging" SG1 with that shot of the team going off to battle with camera at a low angle and the implied perspective is of the base personnel. The shot in Heroes Part One was much more effective even though Daniel and Carter were second guessing their choices; that should have weakened their impression but nontheless, they seemed like larger-than-life heroes as they strode down that corridor.
Tapping is playing this Carter quite a bit different than Col. Carter. More like this is Dr. Carter; she's lost her military-ness so far. She jokes with Bill and is very relaxed. And Bill is a joke...again. :::sigh::: Maybe this is an AU Carter?
Sheppard must have got a transplant of Carter's military-ness. Rodney is being demeaned again. In these two eps, he is pretty much functions as the "technical things" plot advancement device. He explains why they're screwed and what he can do to change it, after he complains about why it will be so difficult.
Huh. All those intense significant looks between Sheppard and Weir. I'm not a shipper for those two, but I bet those that are are loving this. Good for them!
Oh look, Rodney is whining about how difficult things are and how he needs more time. Now, how many times as he done that in this episode alone? I don't even want to count.
The Apollo arrives to save their bacon in the nick of time. I didn't like this when it happened in the later seasons of SG1 and I certainly don't like it now. Last year, Rodney would have come through with something or Sheppard would have managed something. Damn.
Oh, Sheppard does do some flying, but it's a half-assed belly flop. Great; I guess he and Atlantis aren't an item any more. Oh, but then there's a great angsty look from Sheppard; he must be upset about loosing Weir. Okay, that works at least.
So, it looks like Carter is going to be all smooth, competent calmness while McKay barks and shakes like a little Pomeranian. Zelenka was comic relief in this one but he was very brave in the last ep. Bill is just visiting, right? So he'll be the big joke, I'm sure.
Just went back to check. Written by Carl Binder. Could have been better, Carl, but I'm thinking he had an outline that included including some of the points I'm really disliking.
Okay, I can delete that one. Not gonna want to watch that again anytime soon.

Date: 2007-10-07 03:19 am (UTC)That's somewhat how I feel. I started watching with Scarecrow, so that's the Dean I liked at first, but if I had started watching with the Pilot, I'm not sure I'd have liked him nearly as much.

LOL I wanted Dean to save him when he was being strangled! *g*
Aside from that, I barely noticed "the blonde," since apparently we're not supposed to know her name yet.
I was most disappointed with Dean.
