two, er three things

tenayaFirst, they're still filming in town. Lots of old cars toodling about. It's still exciting.
Second, Mom said she saw something awesome on Tuesday. Yeah, what could be awesome and still be seen from her easy chair, right? Apparently a Merlin caught a rat and sat on a statue in the courtyard and ate it right where she could watch the whole thing.
See? The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. *g*
Oh yeah, third, Mom said Quality Home Care called and offered to help her with home repairs. They were pushy about getting her to offer something that needed to be fixed and said they'd be out in an hour when she said we had a leaky skylight. Then she hedged and they said they'd call back on Monday. So, we talked. She said it was a boiler room operation cause she could hear all the phone marketers in the background (though if she knew this, WHY did she give them so much personal information?!) They inferred they were from the city or government but she now admits that the government doesn't call up stray seniors and eagerly look to throw money at them. I coached her to say when they called up again, "I've changed my mind, I don't want you on my property and if you come here, I will call the police."
But hey, they just called and I told them she changed her mind. They asked where she was and when I repeated myself, the woman got huffy and said they were just offering her 50% off and if she didn't want it, that was fine. I told mom they'd probably try to reach her again when I'm not there. I'm sure this is a group set up to scam seniors with faulty, expensive repairs at the very least.
