I'm off later today to lovely Arizona for a work related conference. I'll be back briefly on Friday and then off to the local Farscape con.

I'll catch up later, I hope!

Downtown Tempe. It's a medical thing at the Tempe Mission Palms.

Argh, that would be a two-hour drive each way for me, for just the possibility of a quick meet-up. If you are ever in-state for longer ...

Enjoy, but I think your weekend sounds like more fun!

Yeah, two hours each way! Where abouts do you live?

Farscape will be fun, but my brain will be full about halfway through that conference. There are a couple of people I hung with last year. We went to a greek restaurant and ordered everything that could be set on fire, from drinks to dessert. *g* Turns out we are all happy drunks and the place is around the corner from the hotel.

I'm in Tucson.

Flaming -- that's a food group I can get into!

I'm back. I must have met 4 or 5 people from Tucson, and there was a lot of conversation about Tucson, the corridor between there and Mexico and the amazing growth of your town. And the strange situation with your freeway? Closed exits to keep people from exiting at downtown?

Yes, Arizona and Nevada keep competing for fastest-growing state, but in Nevada it's all in the Las Vegas area. In Arizona, it's Phoenix-Tempe-Mesa-Scottsdale, but also Tucson. It's been pretty horrifying watching the development encroach on some amazing natural areas. And the freeway widening is part of it. The construction is going to literally take years -- commuters are pretty hosed.
