tenayaI thought this one was rather boring.
The best things were how wonderful both Jack and Daniel looked. That was a very nice suit for Daniel, and Jack looks fantastic in the dress uniform. You can just about smell the expensive aftershave through the TV from both of 'em!
I love that Thor has plenty of time now for Jack, but since the relicators are currently on the run, why wouldn't he??
I think Daniel has a permanent chair in the general's office. Looks like he's been spending a lot of his time there. And did I detect a little bit of 'what's going on here?' from Sam as she skimmed who was present when she wanted to get permission to tell Coulson about The Truth? Jack, Thor and Daniel at a meeting she wasn't invited too??
Poor Teal'c. One line was all he had? Thank god he's already had some good episodes in or it would be more annoying than it already was.
I realized Daniel only had three purposes here; exposition boy, sounding board boy for Brilliant Sam, and decorative art work. I can put up with the first two so that Sam can solve everything, though it was a bit glaring when she was speaking lines that Daniel should have had, would have had in the first 4 seasons. One wonders if it's a scheduling thing or the writer felt that Daniel has no moral issues any more? No big deal anyway. Daniel was surprisingly hot speaking about the stock market. I don't think MS would be that hot if he were in a show about the stock market, so I think it's more that it's Daniel saying those lines. Don't ask me why either! And
it was a 'huh' moment that the woman reporter only id'ed Daniel as a nice looking young man. Very, very true, but did she not know his name? She was there when he was ascended, so I guess she's not been back and the writer actually remembered that fact? Whoa! Anyway, my thanks to all the crew who took care to help make Daniel look so delicious; very appreciated! Extra thanks go to Mr. Shanks' parents for their efforts, too. And more thanks, of course, to MS hisself; smiling is a good look on Daniel. I think Daniel was a little surprized that Coulson knew him that fast, as he didn't even introduce himself as Dr. Daniel Jackson. One wonders if there is a yahoo group dedicated to perpetuating young Dr. Jackson's theories? Probably, probably....
Jack looks like he's having fun while looking ever more comfortable as the general, but since he has Thor and Daniel at this beck and call, who wouldn't be happy under that situation? All things considered, I think the writers are doing a much better job of sprinkling Jack Spice evenly through our SG entrees. We are getting the sense that he is there and involved, whether we see it or not. I imagine that is why Teal'c was standing around, too. One of the complaints from last season was that the 4 members of SG-1 were never in the same room together. I suppose if Teal'c or Daniel is just standing around holding up the walls, we aren't whining about where they went. Of course, we never see a scene where Carter is present but silent, do we? I'm just saying that some are more equal than others. Heck, I can remember scenes in early SG where Jack didn't even have any lines....
Coulson. Not believable at all. I suppose he was Branson and a touch of Bill Gates? He was too naive to be real. A businessman of that wealth, who had lost his wife and child, would not be such a Pollyanna optimist. He had no contact with reality, not even with the economic health of his company or sense of responsiblity. He was a two dimensional caricature who did not hold my interest. I wonder when Sam knew him? Maybe she helped design aircraft while she was deciphering the stargate? Did they work together in the 8 years since she's been on SG-1. Wasn't this guy supposedly in his mid thirties? Didn't the sides have him as an old flame for hers? I wonder why they changed that, because, you know everyone loves Sam. Apparently Coulson has not one shred of anger about Sam assinating his character on TV. Is that realistic? Argh!!! Why do I even expect Sam to be a real character any more? Bad me.
And to end this on a positive note, I thought it really funny that Thor has been on TV saying "Greetings People of Earth." And Daniel and Jack looked totally hot.
