The three legged raccoon was just by a few minutes ago. He still looks pretty good.

Actually, we went to the local county fair tonight and didn't leave til it closed (with fireworks) at 10pm. We bought all sorts of stuff that they were hawking and ate food on a stick. We also saw the Rolls Royce that had been owned by Fred Astaire and the Cadillac owned by Rita Hayward. They had other cars owned by celebrities like Steve McQueen and Elton John, not to mention the Batmobile and the Mach 5 (go Speed Racer!)

Anyway, to bring this back around to the varmits again, when we were returning home we saw the raccoon family a block from our house...jumping in and out of a storm drain gutter. Huh. No wonder they can get around without being hit by cars.

It was so frickin' hot when I went to the fair that I just stayed inside, and didn't do a lot of the stuff I usually do. Sigh... Dang, I missed the cars! I went into the History of Rock Music bldg but it wasn't air-conditioned, so you know how long that lasted. I soooo love eating Bad Things. Did you have a deep fried Twinkie? I was tempted... BTW - Twinkies filed bankruptcy! (the temporary kind).

Wonder what the critters do to get ready for winter? Of course, 'winter' in So Cal is a very relative concept! And I wish it was concepting about now...any time! I'm so sick of hot weather....

We were so afraid of the heat, we didn't go until 5pm (and you get in for $5 after 5 so that worked out well.) I didn't see the Rock History thing...was it any good? The cars were in the REALLY Long quansit hut where the quilts, cakes and table settings usually were. I was kind of bummed to have missed those; a friend said they were moved to under the grandstands.

I had a deep fried snickers among other things.... Too bad about Twinkies as they're a cultural icon. I guess the dieting/health food movement hasn't done them any good.

You know what critters do to get ready for winter? They grow lots of fur!!! It seems like as the mating season approaches, the coon family breaks up. Momma coon usually comes by on and off through winter. And yes, I am so sick of the heat and I can't wait for cold any sort of moisture in the air!

I've done that before - gone at 4-5 p.m. I wanted to do it this time, but fate conspired.... The gate to my apt bldg parking was broken for three days, and I had to park on the street. There is noooo streek parking in my neck of the woods after about 4 p.m., ever, and even more so on the weekends, so I figured I needed to be back home by 4ish to insure having a place to park. Turns out they fixed the gate Saturday morning, so I *could* have gone in the evening, but I was ready to leave the house when I found out, so I just said the hell with it, and went....

Yep, they mentioned the health-consciousness as a reason for Twinkies troubles. Have no fear, though, it's one of those 'reorganization' bankruptcies, according to the paper, so they'll still be around to tempt us for the foreseeable future ;-)

Awww, it's sad to think of the family breaking up! Such is the way of Mother Nature, but...awwww! Sniff... ;-(

There's a street/craft fair in Venice tomorrow. Even if it's hot everywhere else, it should be too bad there, fingers crossed!
