I was looking up why the largest drinks at Starbucks are called venti, and one thing led to another and I found this paragraph about my fav burger joint:

"In-N-Out Burger, which is privately held, has maintained a cult following, in large part because it has insisted on not turning burgers into an industrial process, all while expanding gingerly in California, Arizona and Nevada. As a result, it remains a destination, a privilege, a brand that is owned by the minority of Americans who have regular access to it."

Strangely, I do feel lucky to live where these are available. Huh.

But-but-but they put bible verses on their sandwich packaging! I just can't deal with that.

Really? I never noticed that! If I look at the wrapper it's to see how close I am to getting dripped on.

Now I'm wanting to go buy a burger to see the bible verse. Does it change, btw?

I'm not real thrilled by that news but they do make the best burgers. I'm gonna have to turn a blind eye I think, unless it promotes intolerance.

I'm dying of curiosity now! DAMN YOU! *g*

Are you sure it's In-N-Out that do that? I bought some burgers tonight and carefully looked over the packaging and couldn't find any bible verses.

Yes -- it's on Wikipedia. They don't list the words, just the book and the numbers, ie John 3:16, Nahum 1:7. I saw it when I was out west in August and looked it up.

So...why do Starbucks call their large drinks venti?

Yes, why? And why Grande, when Venti is bigger?

The Grande has sixteen ounces and the Venti twenty and apparently venti is twenty in Italian. I think the language change really confuses their labeling.

Apparently it's Italian for twenty, and the drink holds twenty ounces--usually.

In and Out are the ONLY commercial burgers my daughter will eat (she's only just begun eating a little bit of red meat after refusing to eat meat at all for the last few years). The animal-style burgers are awesome. Burger King, go get stuffed!

Loooooove the burgers (and I have a drive-in close by), but the fries are gross - so I just order two burgers, no fries ;-)

The fries are either the best ever or gross. No in between. It's why the fries are fair game on the drive home because they are the best right then!
