It's been raining here on and off for 3 days (I can't remember the last time that happened!) While it's been great, Brindle has been especially crabby about his great outdoors being so wet. He was out last night when I left for work, and as it was raining, I left the garage door open for him. I forgot this is where I store the extra bags of kibble and peanuts. This morning I had to clean up the coon frat party that took place there overnight. They had fun...LOTS of fun. I think they thought they'd discovered nirvana. I'm surprised I didn't find passed out raccoons all over the place, half buried under peanut shells.

LOL! And they were even dry, and relatively warm. Believe it or not, I'd been thinking about your critters with all the rain, and wondering where they go/what they do when it's that wet. Poor guys! I'm sure they appreciated the impromptu bash.

The skunks are very fluffy with a lot of long fur, so you can imagine what a wet skunk looks like! Oh! Talk about a bad hair day!

The raccoons have dense fur so they don't look that much different, just unhappy. We kept putting food out there even though it became cereal because it just sounded so sad to be wet and cold and hungry. I've been there and have sympathy for anyone else in that situation. I was a bit worried about the raccoons using the storm drains to travel by, but I guess they avoided any trouble.

And you're right; as I was putting stuff back on the shelves and sweeping stuff up, I kept thinking, "well, at least they were out of the weather while they were in here." It never crossed my mind to be upset; they are so gleeful as they get into stuff, you can't be cross with them. Thanks for worrying about them!

How can you be cross when normally they put on all that free entertainment! (g)
Willem kept going to the patio door on Tuesday evening, then coming back to me to tell me it was raining, then going back to the door again, as if I was supposed to do something about it. The girls were far more sensible and just tucked themselves up in bed.
I had to empty about a gallon of water out of my little pond before and after going to work, because it was so full that I was afraid the fish would just flop over the side and I didn't want to come home and find them dead on the concrete.

It's too bad that there wasn't a camera recording their activities at the time.

I guess we should be honored that our cats have such faith in us that they believe we can change the weather. Or is it more like an aristocrat with a "handle it, handle it!" type of thing.

Bunny says Tommy goes from door to door asking her to open them so he can find the door where everything is dry.

Good thing you remembered your little pond! How many fishies do you have? Don't the possums try to get them?
