What five characters do you find the most interesting and why?

Daniel Jackson
Methos
Hannibal Heyes
Frank McPike
LaCroix
Ruby

Six? Is that six? Are you sure? Math was never my strong point after midnight. :::blink, blink:::

1) Daniel Jackson. I love Daniel because he's smart, compassionate, not afraid to put it all on the line, is courageous, will fight for his principles and yet is almost always gentle (though there are the occasional times that the claws can come out.) I love what he brings out in Jack and Teal'c and Hammond. I love that he wears glasses and ably demonstrates that an intelligent man who has dedicated his life to learning about other cultures can actually be the hero. I love that he strives to do the right thing even though it's very difficult at times, and like everyone else, sometimes he makes mistakes and has regrets.

2) Methos. I love his conflicted desires, his cleverness, his humor and his mercurial nature. He is incredibly old and has experienced so much that I feel he can emphasize with anyone's predicament. His strong survival instincts make his bottom line ruthless, yet I feel he regrets much in his life. I'm intrigued by his secrets and would love to have seen the history he has lived through. I like what he brings out in MacLeod. I like that, in his own way, he tries to make better choices. If he can. *g*

3) Hannibal Heyes. I love his cleverness, his positive outlook and his loyality to Kid Curry. No goal is beyond Heyes' reach. He's another character that has been ethically challenged but has made it a goal to strive to do right.

4) Frank McPike. I love Frank's sarcasm and his amazing ability to speak passionately about ethics and his own feelings. He has no problems stating his deep affection (or irritation) for Vinnie. Frank never stops fighting no matter how life dumps on him. And he wears glasses. And you just want to buy him a drink, ya know?

5) LaCroix. I've a fondness for the darker characters like LaCroix and Kronos. Kronos is excitingly dangerous and unpredictable and totally unredemeble, while LaCroix, who's just as intoxicated by power still manages to be conflicted about his choices. He does seem to enjoy tormenting Nick and wrecking revenge upon those that oppose him, yet he is a vampire and some of that is just his nature. Does one blame the cat for killing the bird even though the bird brought you pleasure? I loved his wicked sense of humor, twisted monologues and delightful theatrics. LaCroix is always entertaining.

6) Ruby, the Galatic Gumshoe. Okay, this exceeds my allotment of five, but I really need to have both a female character and a non tv character. Ruby is from a radio drama. If you mixed Susan Ivanova with Sam Spade, you'd have something close to Ruby. She smart, sarcastic, has a wicked sense of humor and she's not afraid to blow away smart mouth androids. She is just too cool.
