Mini-reviews and varmits and toys
Feb. 11th, 2005 10:43 pmSG-1: Full Alert. I quite liked it actually. It made good use of the team and used them to their strengths.
So, Jack drives around with a gun in his pants? Daniel would say, "of course." *g*
Interesting pause at the briefing. Teal'c and Carter get their assignments and Daniel lingers waiting and waiting before Jack springs his instructions on him. It seemed like he was waiting for something private, but Jack stayed strictly to business. Later, Daniel was taken a little off balance by Daria, I think. He does like strong women (just like his men.) *eg* Daniel really didn't like giving the blood sample and only submitted to it to avoid being physically forced. Nice touch that he didn't even want to cooperate enough to hold the cotton ball over the puncture site.
Teal'c looked good and dangerous. Not much for him to do, though. Carter did nothing but spout theories and techincal stuff. There is no humor in that woman which is yet another reason why there is no spark between her and Jack. Teal'c has more humor than Carter.
Kinsey is now a Goa'uld. Well, I thought he was scarier as a religiously meglomanic vice-president. Nothing is scarier than that! At least he's not dead. He isn't, is he?
Jack was good. Jack was good working with Checkov. Jack was wonderful making serious decisions under pressure. OBCJ. Oops, sorry, now it's OBGJ.
SG: Atlantis.
Thank god for Rodney or else there wouldn't be much to tonight's ep. The Kirk reference was hysterical. I can see Rodney going through his closet and throwing out any red shirts in there. *g* I'm glad that Rodney's hunch was right; I like that the smart guys are right most of the time.
Shepard. Well, he looked attractive in this ep, but I still can't get past his stubborn stupidity and insular arrogantness.
So, we've seen Carter have glowy luv with an Ancient, and now we've seen Shepard have glowy luv with an Ancient. Daniel spent a whole year as an Ancient but yet we never saw him make glowy luv. But we DO know that he hovered over Jack and Teal'c and kept them safe, and to my mind, I can't see Mr. Never Gets Enough Loving keeping that glowy luv experience away from either Jack or Teal'c.
Enterprise.
It really is getting better so it's a shame it was canceled. I'm enjoying the current arc, and feel sorry for Trip. I'm actually concerned as to what will happen to him. I think Archer needs to give that boy something that will make him forget the Vulcan.
Smallville.
The Lana/boyfriend thing has bored me into a near coma, but Lex has manage to make it more interesting, suddenly. I can't say I was too interested in Clark and football, either. Last week's ep was more interesting with the death of teleporting girl. It was nice to see some actual poignancy for a change. It's been many eps since Lex had more than 2 minutes of airtime/ep. What's with that?!
I'm still behind with BG and 8 eps of Alias Smith and Jones. I have to say that show has held up very, very well. :::happy sigh::::
Even though it's rained all day, a couple of skunks and raccoons have shown up. I through peanuts out for the skunks (waterproof food) but then I saw the 3-legged raccoon working at trying to eat one and felt mess or no mess, I was going to have to give him kibble.
Brindle the smart but emotionally trouble cat has decided to be social, which is good. It's raining so he's in all day and all night, which is good. He's decided that the computer chair is where he deserves to be and gets REALLY cranky if he doesn't get his way, which is BAD. Very, very BAD. Obviously, my computer time is way down the last few days because I prefer my skin in one piece, mostly.
Oh, and thanks to ebay, I'm now the proud owner of a Suunto Vector watch. My wristwatch died in Vegas, so I bought a $10 watch at Walmart, thus saving so much on a watch I need for work that I could justify this wild and silly purchase. It's a great toy. If I was a guy, I wouldn't feel guilty at all over buying something like this for myself. I'm going to enjoy my toy without guilt. I could go off-world with this watch. *g*

Date: 2005-02-12 04:25 pm (UTC)re Smallville. I was thinking the same thing the other day about Lex. When is that boy going to get any air time. He's just so cute and yummy and oooh, you could just squeeze him couldn't you! I'm not sorry about the football either...boring. I don't think I'd want to buy this season, it's just dull, dull, dull. It's really the whole Lex and his dad thing that made it so engrossing. I just got season 3 in the mail by the way, so now I have more goodies to watch!
My cats sulked all day yesterday, and today Willem ran in and out happily, bringing mud in on his toes which he wiped off on the white couch/bedspread thing that I'd just washed. Hairy bastards all of them! (g)

Date: 2005-02-12 09:56 pm (UTC)Hopefully there will be more Lex in the second half of the season. Like you said, we'll save money by not needing to buy this season.
I'm glad Willem has nice clean dry feet. That's very important to a cat. A white couch makes it very easy to be sure he's gotten all that mud off. You're a very good kitty mom. *g*
