Season one of House came out on DVDs today so I scuttled down to the store and plunked my money down. I had missed about three episodes, including Detox which I heard so much about, so in between all the news watching, I've been catching up. I'm a happy camper.

I also had an epipheny about House and why he likes to watch soap operas. Those shows are all about relationships and emotions, the things he has eschewed except for Wilson--he can't resist Wilson. I bet if he knew about fanfic, he'd have all the on-line archives bookmark.

Also of interest is that the box set is only 3 dvds, with shows on both sides of each disk. Therefore, both sides of the disks are shiny silver, with a band of tiny little text IDing disk # and side around the center of the disk. This is the first time I've seen this. As I paid as much of this as I have for a SG box set, I'm thinking this minimalist approach as increased their profits quite a bit. Not too pleased about that, but the show looks great so, oh well.

A US friend is coming over to visit next week so I've asked her to try and pick me up a set before she sets off. :-) I don't think she watches the show so I might get a chance to introduce her. Not that she'll thank me for hooking her on another series. Mwhahahahahaha!

The setup on the discs is actually pretty common, at least in my experience. A lot of the TV sets or even some fairly high grossing movies I own are like that. Not sure why.

I ordered my set from amazon, so I'm still waiting for a little e-mail from them to say that they're on their way. Damn! Why did I preorder? About the 2 sided thing...I have some other shows that came that way, but for the life of me I can't remember which ones.
I agree about the fanfic, House would definitely be collecting that, and it would be another 'addiction' to add to his list!
Glad the varmints are OK. I lost 2 of my goldfish recently, not to a racoon, but because of my own stupidity. The ammonia level had become too high, probably because of the heat. So, I'm being more vigilant about checking it now, and doing a partial water change if I think they need it.
Can't watch the news anymore. I was watching CNN quite happily yesterday, thinking all the time "how can people live there?' Then, that man came on who lost his wife,can't remember his name,and I just lost it. Hysterical sobbing for several minutes. So, I will give some money and try not to watch, as they (no doubt) haul bodies out of the rubble over the next several months.

I'm very sorry to hear about your goldfish. How do you test for ammonia anyway? I always felt terrible when a fish died. I finally gave up on keeping an aquarium because the guilt was too much to deal with.

Yeah, that poor man, Harvey Jackson, I think...it was terrible to see. I wonder where he is now? So terribly sad.

I should be picking mine up from the PO soon. I ordered from Amazon and they shipped on Monday. I wish they'd included bloopers. Maybe next year.

Bloopers would have been great. You do get to see HL's audition which is wonderful.
