tenayaThe coyotes were howling tonight right behind the neighbor's place, and yet Momma brought her kids into the yard about an hour later. Five of them were munching as fast as possible while she stayed up on the berm, keeping watch. The littlest coon stayed with her and nervously kept pacing towards the elm tree. Her biggest kids are nearly the same size as she is now.
Brindle had come in and wanted to go out, but there were skunks clustered close by. The cat has gotten better at ignoring the skunks and navigating between them. This time, he just darted between two of them, quick time. The bigger skunk went "ohmygosh" and hustled off in the other direction. The middle sized skunk looked up at me, gave a little stomp, turned and ran as fast as I've ever seen a skunk run after Brindle. There was a little dust up and Brindle leaped well away and was up on the berm in two hops. The skunk didn't spray, either. It seemed like this skunk said, "That does it! That uppity cat isn't going to get away with THAT!" I have to say Brindle looked a mite surprised, too. Skunks are such primadona drama queens.
Also, Reggie's results came back. His titer is still negative. His other blood work show liver, kidneys, thyroid and WBCs are all good. The vet wanted to schedule him for his surgery but we had to decline. He is eating better and I'm afraid the disposable income went to the plumber today. He was a nice guy; he looked a little like a young Tom Hanks. He snaked the line that went to the street, which we think is okay, but maybe the city's line is damaged. Sounds like a "part one" type of story, doesn't it?
