(not quite verbatim, going for the gist mainly. The whole commentary is quite good, but I just wanted to share these parts here:)

Damian Kindler: The first day of watching dailies was one of those jaw dropping experiences we all love, “Oh my god this really works!” We thought, we knew this was going to be fun but we’re in a whole different level now. It’s very apparent. We were thrilled.

Claudia Black: Yeah, we didn’t think, if we got a cheap actress from Australia that we’d actually get some results from the dailies!

DK: What we knew, we were getting was a real pro who knew the genre real well, who knew how to interact with sets, interact with actors, who could deal with the fx and camera, who would be a veteran about that. This is great. But to get the whole comedy thing, the rapport with Daniel, that was like—

CB: That’s very much to Michael’s credit because instead of doing the whole macho male ego actor thing of “I have to look cool in this fight” he was encouraging the comedic elements to the hilt.

Andy Mikita: Totally. Completely embraced it. To his credit.

CB: He’s such a workhorse, it’s unbelievable. He has a most amazing work ethic as an actor. He’s very responsible as a story teller and it’s great working with him because he will help, he’s more than happy to feed the joke. More than happy to be the guy who feeds the lines to the punch line and have someone else deliver it. He’s a real team player.

DK: How did that chemistry present itself? Was it immediately?

CB: The way it work, I walked up to him, I thought it was going to be awful. I was on set wanting to check out the environment before I started working. I was told Michael would be in soon, he’s shooting something. And he walked past me in the corridor and we’ve never met and I didn’t expect him to know who I was or what I looked like. He walked past and I kind of thought, he blanked me, and I thought, “Awwww no, he’d doing that kinda actor thing where he’s not going to say hello until he’s been introduced,” oh man.

DK: It’s what actors do to writers everyday.

CB: And he just sort of walked to go to set. And when he was actually introduced to me and he realized he had sort of walked past me on set, he was very embarrassed and I think almost blushed. And I just said to him, “Tell me what chemistry you’ve had with female characters you’ve had in the past was” because I hadn’t watched much of Stargate. And he said, “well, he had a wife and she died. Everyone’s partners die on this show.” I said, “what do you want me to bring to your canvas, what haven’t you done yet that you’d like to do, basically how can I serve you in this episode” and I think he almost had a heart attack.

AM: It’s the kind of words he’s not used to hearing.

CB: Yeah.

<<>>

AM: And it was so great for Michael, he legitimately had such a great time.

CB: I mean, seriously, get this guy his own show. When you see him on screen, he’s so funny and his attention to detail and everything he does as an actor, I don’t know if it can only be appreciated by the people who work with him on the floor but he’s very, very good at what he does.

AM: I think it was at lunch this day when I called Rob and said you’ve got to hire this gal.

DK: The recipe for Season Nine, when you find something good, you don’t try to fix it or control it or dilute or put your own stamp on it, you say, “Look, they’ve found something cool, let’s celebrate it and…exploit it for money!”

CB had just come from her honeymoon in Italy and she’d had so much pasta, bread and cheese, and she was 10-15 pounds heavier than she normally is.
