Just a quick note to say our computer was down for a few days and Brindle was deathly ill--I came home from work to find his nose and mouth bloodcaked and he was having lots of bloody stool. Brindle is better after many trips to the vets. I don't know what happened to him, but after 3 days he is finally feeling good enough to sleep normally. Today is the first day I'm hopeful he'll make it. The computer needed a new power unit, a new motherboard and a dam good cleaning. And now I have to run out to the local fannish meeting!

Thank you. I could not believe it was happening. Brindle is young and healthy, aside from the allergy problem. It's Reg we worry about losing too soon. Luckily, Brindle continues to improve and aside from living in our bathroom sink, he seems pretty good. He's eating a little, the poop doesn't smell of blood any more and when he does shift out of the sink to come into the kitchen he's doing his Danny Kaye thing again (He never walks when he can leap.) So scary, though. And we still don't know what happened to him.

Oh dear, poor Brindle! I'm glad he's feeling better now. I hope his recovery is speedy.

Do you have any guesses as to what happened? Maybe it was something he ate that was sharp or spikey?

Maggie ate a balloon Friday night, and I'm still waiting for it to come out.

We haven't a clue. He was fine at 3pm when he went outside. I saw him at 4 and I thought he was pestering something, but in hindsight, he was probably wanting to throw up. At 5:30pm, I heard a low meow. I looked outside and saw nothing, searched the house and the oldsters were fine. I went to work and when I came home in the morning, I looked for him and found him with a bloody muzzle and pool of blood behind him. He was stuporous, but once we brought him in and handled him a bit, he came out of it and moved about on his own but was obviously not feeling well.

So, it happened inside an hour. THere was stagnant water from the rain we'd had 3 days earlier, no new plants in the yard, and apparently no injury. There were no bite marks on him from other animals or snakes. I was most worried that he might have eaten a poisoned rodent, something from the neighbors? He must have eaten something I think. He's nearly back to normal; a little cautious, a little needy and still sleeping a lot. I think we're very lucky.

Now, this ballon...are you having to keep looking until you find it? How dangerous is it to Maggie? Did she just gulp it down? She's always up to something, isn't she? Keeps you busy!

So glad he's better! It sounds like he consumed something corrosive, at both ends. [Shudder]

Good to see you yesterday.

We were fearful he might have gotten into coolant, too. He must have had the world's worst tummy ache. I think part of the problem is that I've seen humans do this in the hospital, and it almost always ends up with them dying. No wonder I was freaked.

It was good to see you again, too. Looking good, there, you know!

Thank you! I'm still fooling around to get things 'just right'. I switched to a slightly more golden shade of concealer and it hides the red better. Also was shown a different way of applying it that works well too. I've been so afraid to wear 'golden' makeup that I never thought about the fact that as long as you don't go too yellow, it's much better for covering up red than trying to stick with a pinkish color. I don't expect perfection, but I am pleased with how it's worked out so far. Much better than "naked face", lol.
