Homelife update
Jan. 12th, 2006 06:44 pmWe're going to Vegas tomorrow, leaving before noon because if you go after that it's a big 280 mile traffic jam, though if you go before, it's a rally race. I've had three exhausting nights at work and I need to pack tonight. I can tell you now, our Estimated Time of Departure is in serious risk because of Brindle. Brindle has had a tough week but is doing better. I've come to the conclusion he's doing some sort of weird feline reenactment of the Goldilocks and the Three Bears story. In this case, our Goldilocks, who is indeed golden, isn't looking for the softest bed. Oh no, that would be too easy (and in fact, that's what the other cats keep reenacting.) No, Brindle is trying out all the plumbing fixtures to find the one that is just right. In Nov/Dec, it was the bathtub. Last week it was the bathroom sink. The last two days, it's been the laundry room sink, the one that fills with a couple of inches of washing machine run off during the spin cycle. I set my laundry down on the washer and peered in at the boy. He was appreciative of the attention but clearly indicated he was knackered from a tough day of napping, and REALLY needed a long snooze right now. Because he was recently bleeding out of both ends, I am resigned to sitting in traffic tomorrow unless he breaks his training for a meal later on tonight.
Also, I have Boston Legal, House, NCIS and Lost on Tivo, but I can catch up?? No. Mom, bless her figure skating luving heart, is in hog heaven watching the US campionship competition in which it's decided who will represent the US in the Olympics. It's Three Hours Long. :::sigh::: So, here I am playing on the computer and wishing my foot didn't hurt so much and idly making lists of what needs to be done.
Raccoon wise, while it's been fairly quiet this past month or two, we've had a few visitors in the past week. Cutiepie came by, as did the three pack, a pair of skittish coons and a single boy who sat on the outside chair and siad, "Hello? Hungry here? Is the diner still serving?" There was one night where Cutiepie came by but didn't eat. There was growling and snorting and a ruckus. Does this mean Cutiepie wasn't really interested in eating that night? Since the skunks have been mating (which has lots of shrill painful-sounding squealing) I wonder if it was a mating moment for Cutiepie, too.
And to tell the truth, I'm still knackered from work to really care that much. It's a vacation; I'll get there when I damn well get there. Maybe I'll go squeeze the Reggie and bask in the soothing sounds of the Mother of All Purrs.
