Here is Brindle tonight in the laundry sink:

Brindle feeling much better. Note the explosion of winter fur around his neck and chest:

Big Reg with his 1/4 poodle cut. Looks like he's wearing a mukluk And you can see he's lost some weight, too:

I tried doing the scrapbook and the photo cuts, but apparently it's just beyond me tonight. So, there are the urls of the photobucket site. I'll figure this out after I get back.

Oh, I found out today that Brindle's lab work did come back and indicated he may have ingested some warfarin, a rat poison that kills by bleeding out the victim. Mom said that on Tuesday, the vet called from home and worriedly asked how he was doing. It seems that they now agree he was a sick kitty and we should let them know if he passes more bloodly stools. I think one of his nine lives just ticked over.

Such a lovely fluffy boy - mama has a right to be proud! ;-)

Sounds like he had a close call - so glad he's getting better.

He is a fluffy boy, isn't he? Actually, he's not that fluffy in his summer fur. And he does seem recovered so I'm relieved.

Ah, they're pretty!! Nice to put a face with the fur so to speak ;) Did they give Reg Vitamin K to combat the Warfarin?

No, no Vitamin K shot. I have to say they really dropped the ball on this one. Mom took him in on Thurs to have them say he wasn't injured. She took him back on Fri to ask if they thought it might be poisoning, and they said no. She insisted they draw some blood, but the results didn't come back until a few days, and they didn't call us until Tuesday. I imagine the blood work showed some residual effects by that time. Brindle was simply lucky enough to survive this on his own.

And thank you, they are pretty lil guys. But then again, I think all cats are pretty. *g*

I asked Dr. Vet if she knew of any times when an animal wouldn't be given Vitamin K for Warfarin Toxicity and she couldn't really think of any, even if it was a mild case. Better safe than sorry, you know?

I don't get it, but I wasn't there either so I'll be good this one time and not judge ;)

I'm glad the baby is okay though. ::snuggles virtual kitty::

Warfarin...oh, my God! Poor thing. he's a very lucky boy to have escaped without more damage, and like you say, I think one of his nine lives just went bye bye. I wonder where he found that to eat. Do your neighbours put stuff like that out? I didn't think Brindle went too far from the house, but maybe I'm wrong.
The photos are cute!
Hope you had a lovely time in Vegas, and brought back lots of pretty rocks!

I didn't think Brindle strayed that far, but maybe something was poisoned and staggered into our yard to die. I think he threw it up fairly immediately, so perhaps that is what saved his life, though he had three miserable days. None of our immediate neighbors has pets save one, so I'm thinking they might not even think about accidently poisoning pets. BTW, do you know off hand if we need to worry about any lingering after effects like liver damage? I suppose I should ask the vet....

And yes, we had a great time and now have more rocks. Well spotted!
