This episode was written by Kindler, but the story was by Cooper and Kindler. The director was a new guy and I must say I liked some of his choices.

First off, the biggest plot manipulation was that the Prometheus didn't fire on the satellite as soon as it arrived. Daniel wanted them to fire on the weapon, and they knew that. Even before I knew what would occur, I thought this hesistation from both colonels demonstrated a severe lack of leadership and tactical ability. Jack would have fired and then used his advantage to threaten more mayhem if they didn't produced Daniel.

The biggest issue I have is that while I admit to being riveted to the Prometheus' fate and that this episode was very dramatic, I despair that the writers will ever keep any of their toys around, especially when they can destroy them in an explosion. Losing such a irreplacible asset such as the Prometheus is devastating to the Earth. Losing it as an aside in a plot where 1) they would have been successful with a plan that would have risked less and 2) nothing good came of the loss, leaves me feeling quite dissatisfied and pissed off. The writers have rarely had the table stakes big enough to equal the loss of what they were getting rid of (Abydos, Tanith, Selmack, Janet, Daniel.)

I'm glad that Capt. Pendergast was given his moment when the ship was destroyed; he was a brave man and his death was the most dramatic moment of the show.

I thought all the "I'm glad you made it" were excessive and came across as lip service. Mind you, I like that the team cares about each other, but I think I might have liked it better if they showed they were happy and didn't all say the same thing.

Daniel looked so miserable in the cell after the Prometheus was destroyed. So many losses....

Jarod got a lot of dramatic moments, quiet and intense moments. He was a good character; I wish he'd been stranded on Earth and not presumed lost. Also, I liked that so many of the guest cast were interesting and three dimensional; aside from Jarod, Ernie Hudson and the actress that was the president of Caledonia (who was in New Ground) added depth and interest to the show.

I can NOT believe they stopped Mitchell from destroying the satellite! How could they accept the word of a man who imprisoned a diplomatic envoy, and refused to accept the surrender of the Prometheus? While I appreciate that Daniel might want to broker a peaceful settlement, we have seen that he isn't this naive anymore. There was no people manning the satellite; they should have blasted it.

Daniel's reaction to the beer Mitchell brought him was interesting. What are the rules about drinking on base while off duty? Perhaps that's why Daniel seemed perplexed by the beer? Or it could be he's a beer snob and while Mitchell knows how Daniel likes his coffee, he doesn't know about buying the better stuff. (I know Daniel said he didn't like beer in Shades of Grey, but he did drink it in the pilot, Upgrades and Lost City.) Does this mean Daniel and Mitchell haven't gone out drinking yet?

And like everyone else has said, Landry and Jack are going to be PISSED when they find out the Prometheus was lost with 40 crew.

So, when wake up in the mornings do you find that all your cats are teacosied about you in a circle, there little yellow eyes glowing with the power of Kitty Mind Control as they convert you to the furry side of the Force?

But yeah, leaving them a box of cat shit in place of their Stargate works for me. They probably wouldn't even noticed the difference.
