The cats were nocturnal last night, too. I got up and slopped the hogs at 1am, and apparently Mom slopped them again at 3am as the plates were empty. I guess if you don't eat all day you would get hungry at night. I think I've gotten 3-4 hours of sleep per night since last Saturday (except I got a whole 5 hours on Tuesday.) When I got home today, I went to take a power nap in my own lovely, wonderful bed with its delightfully perfect pillows and slept for over 3 hours again. (As if you couldn't tell, obessive counting of the hours you've managed to sleep is a sign you're listening to someone who works night shift.)

To make a long story short, we left the hotel okay and were able to move back into the house immediately. It doesn't smell different, nor is there anything different (yeah, I know they said there'd be no residue, but it just seems if your house is filled with poisonious gas, something might be different.) Not a single moth in sight and that's to be celebrated!

As we were getting ready for bed last night, all the cats jumped on the bed before I could climb in. Mom had one half of the bed and the cats had the other half. Little stinkers! Anyway, I wiggled into place (kind of like parallel parking a car) and the cats just purred and flexed. Lights out...and the cats start roaming and meowing immediately. WTF?! THey alternatively tried to sleep or jumped into the window to watch traffic go by. And at 7am, I wake up to Mom saying that one of them had wet the bed last night, right in the middle between the two of us. Again, I say, "WTF?!" We have the cleanest cats. They would rather burst a bladder than pee outside a litterbox (or the great outdoors.) I don't know what happened. I do have two theories. It wasn't Scooter because he took a piss at 7am and had a big deposit. He wasn't drinking that much anyway. So, it's Brindle or Reg. I saw both of them in that spot last night. Brindle might have done it in retribution for not letting him out. He does believe in tit for tat, but he had been using the litterbox regularly. That leaves Sweet Reg, who seemed to think the bathroom was a bit scary and neither of us had caught him using the litterbox (he must have been very stealthy.) My best theory is that he had a full bladder and dreamed of going to the litterbox and voila! He is a very sweet creature, but he's lost some of his higher reasoning when the fungus ate his brain a few years ago. I think it was just an accident. The great sweet thing is currently sleeping on my feet, purring madly. They all are relieved to be home again.

So, I wonder what the hotel will do? What do they do when humans wet the bed? I suppose if it involves money, I'll find out presently. I did leave the poor housekeepers a really big tip. At least it's all behind us now. Except for cleaning out the cupboards and restocking all our crap. I think I need a bigger trash can.
