Varmit report
Mar. 12th, 2006 07:32 pmOver the last month or so, we've had lone raccoons stop by nearly each night, sometimes two different ones per night. Cutiepie came by a couple of nights ago. Big Reg and Scooter were outside and while Scooter was pressed against the glass door saying, "pleaseforgodssakeletmein!" Reg was standing square in front of her, hissing. Brindle, the young alpha cat was inside yowling, demanding to get outside. Cutiepie was just standing there looking like, "hey, I don't want any trouble, okay?" Once all the cats were brought in, she slowly stepped up to feed.
Now tonight, it was pretty funny. It's been raining off and on, and cold outside. I was petting Reg and out of the corner of my eye, I could see this tall shrub just outside the door swaying madly back and forth. When I looked closer, I could see an adult raccoon peering intently into the house, trying coon mind control on me. As I went closer, the coon jumped out of the bush and stood up with its little paws raised against the glass door. "Food, food, food! Gimme food!" This guy got extra points for figuring out how to attract our attention!
Also, I met the new neighbors today. A divorcing mom with a 15 year old boy who is into computer games, and they like cats and dogs. And she talked to us! Already, I've interacted more with them than the last family, who were grumpy cops and probably the source of the 'get your yard cleaned up' harrassment. We've a weed problem, no trash or wrecked cars parts. So, all in all, a good trade. :)
