We found a kibble at Costco that is chicken and rice so if Brindle gets to eat some of it, it won't cause him to get a allergic reaction. Cool. As a result of putting food out again, we've been getting the odd raccoon every night. I think I've seen Cutiepie, but lately there's been this coon that eats with both front paws at the same time. And tonight, I was astounded to see she had two little coons with her! These guys are small, about what I'd expect them to look like in July; bigger than a baby fur ball, but still young enough to do whatever momma tells them to do. And this momma is skitish, she saw me watching her and she took off (I'd waited til they'd eaten and drank quite a bit first) but she did come back for seconds later on. I can't imagine how this litter is so young this late in the season. And we're having come cold nights lately, close to freezing. I feel quite responsible to help this family out.

Brindle has decided he's my cat and has been sleeping squished against my head, purring like a madman. Reggie is jealous and has been leaning against me, claiming whatever body part he can reach, purring like a madman. Reggie wins in the purring like a madman contest even though he's 9 years older.

Mom is doing much better. Still tiring quickly but is now able to stay out of bed all day. Me, on the other hand, felt chilled and tired today and I went back to bed in the afternoon. I feel like I'm fighting something in the throat area. If only it could be cured by the application of a fuzzy orange cat....

Yep, we're doing better. We should be doing chores and Xmas stuff, but instead we're taking it easy (ie being lazy.) *g*

Aww, poor little coon babies! I hope they make it through the winter. I suppose that even if you tried to fix up some sort of shelter, they most likely wouldn't stay in it, would they?

I suppose Cutiepie was skittish when she first started coming to your place, so maybe it will just take New Mama some time and she'll start to feel more at ease.

LOL, sounds like my house, with Wheelz doing head duty on the pillow and Snicky glued under the covers behind my knees.

I'm glad your mom is doing better. It takes a while to bounce back when you're that age. My mom doesn't bounce too well either ;-( There is a sneezy/sore throat thing going around everywhere. I've been having a sore throat, but I hope it's the wind. However, I sneezed all day today. Loading up on the Emergen-C. Hope you feel better fast and can once more apply furry poultice to whatever ails you.

The babies will be fine if they have regular meals, I believe.

Cutiepie was a baby when we first met her. She used to lay on top of the kibble while eating it and play footsie with me through the screen door. Her mother was a little overwhelmed and wasn't as protective as she should have been and as a result, Cutiepie bonded a bit with us.

Don't cats make you contort yourself into odd positions so YOU won't disturb THEM? *g*

Mom says today is the first day she's felt kinda normal so that's encouraging. She also made her own breakfast today. Yay for the activity and double yay for the increase in appetite. I've found the Vitamin C bottle finally and have been pounding back the doses. I'm feeling better. Maybe I dodged the bullet.

LOL at Cutiepie - laid back from birth, then! Wish I could have seen this.

Heh, this was a "won't you stay in bed with us and be our heater, mom?" morning.

Glad your mom continues to improve. I was at the Harvest Festival yesterday - let's see...incubation period 2-4 days??? Fingers crossed!

A varmint report! Yay. I think we may have raccoons in the backyard; but I'm not sure. I'm waiting for snow to see if I can tell from the tracks.

I'm glad your mother is doing better. Now it sounds like you need a little extra rest and maybe some vitamin C...

Hmmmm...that sounds like some advice I gave to someone else...who could it be? *g* Yep, I found the vitamin C and began taking the big doses and this morning the cold sore is gone. Yay! You never said it sleeping/vit C worked for you or not.

Is Maggie bothered by raccoon activity?
