Okay, I've reread the stuff, and there is good news and there is bad news.

First, on the California form, where you list the tax refund is part of a group where you subtract the total from your income. So, it's a good thing (though I SWEAR in the past it was the other way around but then again I'm blond so there you go.) *g*

The bad news is that on the Federal form under Refunds of State or Local Income taxes, it states if I used the EZ or 1040A form for last year, none of the refund is taxable. If I didn't use those forms, "you may have to report part or all of the refund as income on From 1040 for 2006. For details, use the Teletax topic 405."

Luckily, my taxes are very simple. Think of Duncan MacLeod but aim about at the nipple level. :::Swoosh::: it's gone! So, I've used the EZ forms so I've got one less thing to rant about. But now it's the Federal government that in some instances, will consider a refund as income.

It's all still wrong, wrong, wrong, but now I can rant at Bush instead of California. I feel better about that at least. BLOODY BUSH!!!! *g*

Thank you all for being concerned. :::big cheezy grin:::

Oh, on an unrelated note, my Subaru makes no pollutants. That's pretty nice. Odd, but nice.

And on a completely unrelated note, the police arrested Chewbacca on Hollywood Blvd for headbutting a tour guide after he was chastized for asking tourists for money. Heh heh heh.
