This photo is a bit large but you *really* have to see the detail. This was on a column proudly displayed in the town square of Schwerin, in the northern Germany. The people seem to have medival dress and I'm guessing the mooning is to be taken figuratively rather than literally? Any guesses on this one?

Uh... That's a lot of asses!

I think you need to know who the guy on the horse is to figure it out. There wasn't any kind of explanation nearby?

Unfortunately, I seemed to have neglected to capture the word at the top of the scene. I *think* it mentioned Leo. I just uploaded the other three sides of the thing here:

This is in a area that used to be East Germany and there weren't any English speakers to ask. I had learn some German but was not able to hold a conversation. They were usually very surprised to find out we were American, but joyful when they saw we were from California. Schwarzenegger had just become the governor of California and they were bursting at the seems from pride.

I mean to investigate it someday....

Roughly translates as Vestage (trace or footpath) of The Lion - Spoor of the Lion. The lion would be Henry the Lion, crusading Duke of Bavaria and Saxony; spoor of the lion could mean his son, not-so-popular Emperor Otto IV.

Here's some links:

Or, maybe not...
