First off, I'm still wading through the backlog and as that will take a while, I'm going to post now anyway.

Re the strikethough: While I don't agree with how Six Apart handled things, it's not like I've never fucked up. Since they've apologized and reinstated the fannish journals, I'm fine with that.

I will make a backup of this journal (once the rush is over) and I did make a Greatest Journal with my same handle. I doubt I'll use it unless this community dries up, which I hope it doesn't. And I joined [livejournal.com profile] fandom_count.

And I'm not going to lock up this journal. That doesn't fit in with how I define fandom--which is about sharing. Not that I'm that interesting, but still.... I hate that WFI can make so many fans go hide.

What effects me more is being unsubbed by a doctor who group. They unsubbed everyone because of a few bad apples and now you have to be vouched for by someone else before they will let you back in. Well golly gee, even though I always thanked people, I doubt I'll ever be let back in because 1) I don't know anyone on that list, and 2)I don't "participate" enough. Now mind you, I just got home from MediaWest where I sat in a few panels about Torchwood, but I bet traveling two thousand miles to rub shoulders with other fans doesn't count towards participation. You know? To me, this fannish unsubbing is a lot more unfair. I'm left to try to join other groups who may not be so exclusive.

Yeah, I'm rather stunned myself that the CEO actually not only apologized but did not use a scapegoat.

If you have a GJ account, I'm on there, too, under this same name.

Unfortunately, these types of things cause people to get paranoid and tend to make them react before thinking. Hopefully you can find another group that won't get too unsub-happy if something like this blows up again.

I can understand the urge to protect something that has taken years to construct. I'm not sure anyplace else will be better.

I thought the CEO did a good apology. We did wrong and are correcting it. They will be more careful in the future.

I'll have to go friend you and some others over there. Thanks. :)

If they had handled it like the terms said, they would have had a lot less trouble. I think that, more than anything else, pissed people off. Their rules are quite reasonable about that type of thing - someone complains, LJ checks out to see if it's legitimate, then does or does not take action depending on what the situation is. That's all they had to do in this situation. However, it's a good thing they're willing to own up to their mistake.

So, how is kitty doing now? Paws still ok?

He's got one ex-claw site that still bleeds occasionally, otherwise, things are coming along very nicely. I'm thinking maybe I should trim a few of the 'ground down' ones, as a couple of them have had the tips splintered. That should be fun. :(

Thanks for asking. :) Brindle is laying at my feet right now, and everytime he stretches I feel soft little paws caress my leg. It's keeping me from going out and doing some gardening because I'm enjoying it too much.

i'm kind of in the same boat about the doctor who community. :( I don't know anyone there and mostly I lurked but occasionally someone would post something that I didn't find via torrents and I always thanked when I downloaded. the whole thing made me kind of angry and now i'm trying to let it go and move on.

I also refuse to flock my fannish stuff because well it's hard to run a rec journal if you flock all your recs! and gosh I hope people don't flock all their stories because it'll be that much harder to find stories to recommend.

Yes, that is so frustrating to look for a recced story and find that it's flocked. Flocking only accentuates the worst element about fandom in lj. Maybe I shouldn't say worst element, but the element of lj that most irritates me. I suppose for some people, that is it's most desirable element, the exclusivity and control.

I was told about two other groups which I've applied to, but haven't heard back from them either. Since they are pretty strict about mentioning them anywhere, just look in my profile for them. Good luck!

I'm more frustrated than angry. I need to find other venues for my Capt Jack fixes.

One of my pet peeves is flocked stories. grrrr I can understand flocking private life stuff but fannish content?

I'll keep an eye open and check out your profile from time to time to see how that goes. I sent requests to two dr who communities now I just have to wait and see myself.

Fans that take content from fandom but refuse to share are not my favorite people, that's for sure.

I guess we just sit and wait about getting resubbed to one of those groups. Are you wanting both Doctor Who and Torchwood? That's what I'm after.

When you get a sec and feel up to it, can you scan this post and make certain you're OK with the topics we are discussing in my LJ?
