Oh. My. God. That was awesome! I haven't been that knocked on my ass by a tv show since I can't recall when. That was totally exciting and delightful. Obviously, I can't say enough about it.

The Doctor, Jack and The Master were hot. Martha was firing on all cylinders, too. The innuendo was subtext that was pretty much text made this episode a feast for slash fans. So many amazing possibilities. And oh my god John Simm is a force of nature when he's let loose. I just can't wait until next week.

Oh, and can I just say it was soooo satisfying when they killed the President Winters?

And won't the surveillance that is scanning the web looking for threats against America and YouknowWho get flooded out with all the sudden references to killing a president? *g*

Was't it great?

I God I just *loved* it - though I can't help worrying it's moving so far from the spirit if Old Who and closer to to contemporary SciFi; on the one hand, I love it - it makes for an exciting show but on the other, Who was always indefinable 'special' I'd hate for it to become 'just another show in the crowd', if you know what I mean.

But Oh Lordy, wasn't John Simm excellent?! I was just laughing and gasping... Those Time Lords have a great sense of humour. Most of all I loved them playing 'Things can only get better' for Saxon's election. Bwahahahaha!!!

I loved the Gallifrey sequence and all the references to the novels!!! Russell is such a fanboy! I can't wait for next week... Or the Ten/Master slash that is sure to ensue from these eppys. (o:

You have the advantage on me, for better or worse. I've only seen a few eps of the third Doctor and most of the fourth, plus all of the new ones. And no books. I'm missing all the references (but I did get the jelly babies one.) I think I saw an ep about the Master but I don't recall any of the details. Simm is delightful. Amazingly dangerous and quite mad. He's doing horrible things and is so damn entertaining doing them!

I do get the feeling that these eps have moved away from the past tone. But on the other hand, they're fun, they're scary and they're G-rated. And they are crazy. They are close to the old ones, I think.

Oh yeah! Ten/Master. Even Master/Jack, but those might not be very happy stories.

I was in awe!!

And the whole US president riff? Amazing... and a dig at our own would-be PM, Cameron - (he of the no recognisable ideas) *snort*

But loved Martha, adored Jack and 10 and The Master and I so want the FF NOW!

I think I sat though most of the show with my mouth hanging open and my little finger clenched white as they gripped the computer table. *g*

No recognizable ideas? I heard that and thought it must have been a jab at Blair.

I totally am there with you about the fanfiction. If you find some good ones, let me know. I'll post what I find here on the lj.

And yes, your icon made me laugh. It is so great! Poor Jack. Is the Doctor really that oblivious or is he just waiting for the right time to jump his bones? *g*
