Colin Powell gets it

I'm watching the Colbert Report and he has this quote on there from the Oct 07 issue of GQ: "What is the greatest threat facing us now? People will say it's terrorism. But are there any terrorists in the world who can change the American way of life or our political system? No. ...Only we can change ourselves."
I've watched every debate so far that I can. If I could, I'd ask the candidates, "if elected, how will you restore our government's system of checks and balances? And will you repair the damage done to our constitution?"

It's interesting there is a process of electing a candidate. There are elections in Spain next year and the candidates are already known.

Of the Republicans, they can't wait to parrot all the crap that Bush holds dear. Very scary. But, there is Ron Paul who really ought to be running as a Democrat; very sensible man but doesn't stand a chance. Hucklebee at least understands the word 'tolerance' and seems more moderate. He has strong beliefs but doesn't think everyone should have his beliefs. All the others are too scary.
All you have to do to be a candidate is declare yourself and submit a fee. Each state will have a primary election to narrow down the choices to one person from each party. Then we'll have a convention for each where the candidate is confirmed and the party gets behind them. The primaries will be all but over by February. I think the conventions are in the summer. Both parties will have about 9 months to sling mud at each other. And Bush will have some threatening whatever happen to scare people again.
So, I think Hilary would be best. It's not that I agree or particularly like her, but I think she might be best for the job. I've had it up to here with incompetence.
