Natterings

Last night at work about 4am, I got on the elevator just as a Russian Orthodox priest got off, looked around, then turned back stating he was trying to find his way out and could I please help him. Have you ever been suddenly confronted with someone so attractive you lose the power of speech? And a priest at that!! I actually had to look at the ground to be able to put two words together and then still had a few wrong words at that. The directions were complex enough I had to accompany him part of the way which was both a blessing and curse as I sort of blathered and pointed. *g* Boy, that woke me up good! Embarrassing but let me tell you that was one attractive man!
One of my co-coworker's 90 year old grandmother died. She was head of a big Hispanic family. As they were going through her stuff (she still lived in her own little home still she broke her hip and that had to be sorted through) they would find little post it notes that said things like, "Love each other," and "Family always comes first." But they also found a few "Vote for Hillary." That still makes me laugh.
More natterings:
Scooter is still tottering about, being sweet and annoying. I was talking to Bunny on the phone tonight and Scoots was sleeping on my chest. He did that swallowing thing he does that I think means he's hurting somewhere -- then glared at me like he wanted me to stop doing that to him. He shifted to lay in different positions. After about five minutes, this event seemed to pass and then he started to lick my forehead. Ick, I tell you, ick! His breath smells and his tongue is so rough. After he left, I had to go wash my face and I realized where he was washing there are a couple of bumps that have begun to darken in color, kinda greyish which is an odd color. Now I'm suddenly paranoid because he's begun to wash that particular spot over the past couple of weeks and he never did more than give me a couple of quick 'kisses' before that and that was usually on the arm. I'm gonna make an appt with a dermatologist tomorrow.
The big vacation we were planning for Hawaii is no more. The friend that moved to the big island had to come back because he couldn't get a job there. I don't like the heat and Hawaii is always in the 80s and since Remi isn't there, Hawaii was moved back down the list of Places We Want To Visit. We toyed with the idea of going to Egypt for about a week. It was a fantastic trip, but expensive. Mom walks with a cane and has IBS, and I am significantly overweight. I asked the tour company if people like us would be comfortable on their luxury tour. No reply--which is really an answer. So now were going to Banff, Jasper and Drumheller Alberta (which is where they find all those dinosaur fossils.) We're going in the early fall.
And lastly, I ended up getting Mom a selection of books and dvds for Mother's Day. One book that is particularly nice is Valley of the Kings, an enormous coffee table book filled with fantastic photos. I got it from the Barnes and Noble discount section for $25 (it appears on the online bookstores as out of stock.) It's listed on Amazon as $125. You Egyptophiles need to see if you can pick up a copy.

Date: 2008-05-13 02:51 am (UTC)Love the look of the book... I love those sort of books. I'll keep an eye out for it here, but I'm guessing there'd be no way I'd get a copy for $25!
Now, isn't there a law against oggling priests? *g*
*hugs*
