Cat anxiety
Dec. 29th, 2005 02:11 pmWell, my armful of squeezy purring luv has been left at the vets. Reg has been having tooth problems for a week now (bad breath, dropping food, restlessness from discomfort.) For the last day, he hasn't been able to eat, making jerky chomping motions with sharp head twitches, and has been beside himself with hunger. We were very lucky that the vet could squeeze him in today, and once she looked at his mouth, said he had to stay and have dental surgery. It's a bit more expensive than it normally would have been as he needs some IV fluid to counter his dehydration. Bad mommies, no biscuit.
It all worked out, time wise. When I first called yesterday, they said they were book solid until Saturday. I know that they only do dental surgery on Tues/Wed/Thur so I was thinking we were going to have to beg him to eat/drink for 5 days and get pain meds into him. While I was debating finding a new vet, Mom called again, pulled the "Hi! I'm Mrs. G and Reggie needs to come in for an appt." Suddenly, they had an 11:45 appt open. I forget to use the VIP card. While we were waiting, three different vet techs came in and said, "Reggie!" and threw their arms around him. Even the new vet was all enamored with him. This cat conquers all who meet him with a shy glance and the loudest purr. The new vet wanted to listen to his heart, but Reg never stops purring for anyone. She had a new trick though. She turned on the water faucet. When he still kept purring, she picked him up and brought him face to face with the running water. THAT stopped the purring! Kinda mean, but it worked!
Anyway, we hope to get him back tonight. Good thing we didn't go crazy buying Xmas stuff because the $$$ is needed now for our Cadillac kitty.
