from the Marriott in Anchorage
Aug. 28th, 2006 06:50 pmWe've been having a great time. It was cool and drizzly for the first few days and I loved it. Today it was in the high 60s, just nudging the too warm range, and I think I got a sunburn. Drats.
So far, we've seen Seward and the Aquarium there (loved Woody the Sealion.) Took the short but impressive hike to Exit Glacier (scary. I could hear what sounded like a rushing stream *inside* the glacier.) Went to the Wild Animal park and saw moose (no squirrel), bear, bear cubs, sitka deer, elk, bison and musk ox up close and personal. Got to hear most of them make sounds, too. Apparently I'm into sounds this trip.
My friend we were going to stay with had rain damage to her apt so she booked us into the EconoLodge in a rather seedy side of town. Everything worked out okay, but still, it was a bit unsettling. Now we are in the Marriott and I'm the seedy one here in my mismatched clothes (I'm waiting for my laundry to get out of the dryer) and sunburn. Heh heh heh.
Oh, Mom brought her CPAP machine for her sleep apnea but forgot the power cord. I phoned the Kitty Sitter in a bit of a panic and the lovely woman mailed it up here UPS, and we got it today. Mom's been very sleepy the last two days so hopefully she'll get a good nights rest tonight and all will be well.
Tomorrow we go to Talkeetna by train. Woowhoo! You know me and trains. *g*
Oh, I got to see a very grainy version of SG1 on Friday and loved it. It reminded me of watching all those B7 eps on the 4th or 5th generation though. The effects look just the same with that much interference. *g* Did Daniel suffer some? I'm looking forward to seeing that in a clearer format.
I guess I'm out of the loop when it comes to what's happened since they canceled SG1? Aside from a couple of 2 hour films (as Teal'c would say, "I believe they are made for TV movies") is there anything else going on?
I don't know when I'll get to the next again. My cell phone that does get the net...doesn't seem to work AT ALL here in Alaska! W.T.F!!!
Catch you later!
