What a delightful episode! I'm pleased to say the show went out on a high note that left us smiling with delight.

Spoilers to follow:
They did it! They actually did it! Denny asked Alan to marry him and they got married at Nimmo Bay. And it was a double wedding with Shirley and Carl. Aside from that, Alan got to go on three rants and he won all of them. And Denny got to use his paint guns to shoot a room full of Chinese business men who were buying out the firm. I wonder how many wedding night fics will be written now. :)

I will very much miss this show. It's filled with wonderful actors, quirky characters, unexpected plot twists and spirited discourse about timely matters. It was fun and entertaining and there are only three shows that I stopped surfing the net and actually watch with my undivided attention. Pushing Daisies and Dexter are the other shows. Okay, make that four. Criminal Minds is the other one that requires full focus to appreciate all its flavors.

BTW, I'm watching Leverage right now. The lead character has a laptop like mine. *g*

Also, Craig Ferguson did a very emotional, touching tribute to his mum who died on December 1st. He show a clip of when she was on the show a few years ago and she seemed like a lovely person.

Anyway, goodbye, Boston Legal. We'll always be flamingos together. :)

I loved the finale too, and that they went back to Nimmo Bay. It was awesome! I'm so happy for the chemistry between Spader and Shatner that led to all those great moments, and to Kelly for seeing it. I think they broke new ground on the bromance front, for sure.

They sure did. And I've always wanted them to go back to Nimmo Bay. I was very pleased that after teasing us for years about the bromance, they actually went there. Wonderful!

I am very pissed. I SET my recorder and was playing on my computer in another room. Halfway through I went to the living room and IT WASN'T RECORDING!!!!!!!! ARGH. I pressed record and I have the second half at least.

How much did I miss at the beginning? I'm thinking of downloading, the first half anyway. Can I watch the second half and wait to enjoy part one later?

I started watching David E. Kelly's show again back when James Spader joined The Practice, but when Shatner came on and it was Boston Legal it became can't miss TV. I skimmed through most of the other story lines, and often I ended up shaking my head (while laughing) as they just went over the top. But that's what this show was all about. And the friendship between Alan and Denny has been jaw-droppingly wonderful.

Last week's diatribe from Carl Sack on discrimination against older viewers was PRICELESS! But THIS! I can't wait to watch it later tonight. It will comfort my sniffly, stuffy self. Damn cold!

Ooh, that would be terrible to miss this!

Okay, I just skimmed the first half (it's actually two distinct eps put together.)

The first half have the Chinese buying the firm. Denny shoots all those communists with a paint gun. The firm takes a vote in favor of the sale with only six saying nay due to not wanting the Chinese-- with their poor human rights history--to take over American law firm. The Chinese fire the litigation dept. Our main cast go to a bar where Shirley tells them they will all go their separate ways but they should live their passion. Alan says they should fire the Chinese. They go back to a meeting and Alan gives a brilliant arguement that they will sue the new management and will win because they are likeable and a jury will agree with them whether they have cause or not because he has a history of doing just that. The Chinese burst out in applause. Later, they are told they are not fired, but they suspect they will get rid of them slowly instead.

Denny has another event; he is found naked in his neighbor's bed and is charged with breaking and entering and sexual assault. He says he'd come on to her before and thought she'd like it. The neighbor says he seemed confused and decides to drop charges. Alan gets Denny to admit to the confusion. Later, Denny proposes to Alan after Alan says he'd like to open up a Free Legal Clinic but would have trouble with the financing. Denny says he has more money than god and outlines why a marriage between them would work. Alan needs to be convinced but you can see he's weakening. And they do admit their love for each other, too.

So, you can watch the second half without the first. You just miss a semi-hostile take over by the Chinese, and Denny's condition getting worse and the marriage proposal. Denny says marriage is the most efficient way of transfering wealth, there's the medical decision reasons and it also would protect Alan from having to testify against Denny in case he should do something else as his condition worsens. It really comes across as Denny wanting to protect Alan, to be able to leave his wealth to Alan so Alan can do good things with it. And that they love each other and are already commited to each other.

Yes, I thought SG fans in particular would REALLY like Carl's diatribe. I was certainly cheering him! Wonderful.

Anyway, download it if you can, but it's okay to watch part two first.

Thank you so much for the synopsis! I can catch the Chinese thing later on. I may actually pay 1.99 on Amazon to watch to see the proposal, but it sounds as if I still get to see the best stuff. Later tonight!

Having heard what was happening, I figured that the reasoning would be that Denny trusted Alan to have his money and to take care of him. I know Alan has his power of attorney already, but it IS easier when married. It is nice that they talk about love and commitment, too. It has been sweet to see these two very heterosexual men talk about how much they love each other. The intimacy is there, and is what makes the story so interesting, whether they sleep together or not. Strike that--they do SLEEP together! LOL!

I had already decided to get this season when the DVDs come out. This has been the best one with Alan & Denny. I may end up getting the rest of them as well. I have Season 1, just never watched it again--I should check to see if they do commentaries, etc. That always makes it more worthwhile. Especially if the actors do a couple at least.

Of course Stargate can't remember that. Then again, we go buy the doggone things anyway. Sigh. But that's another show. A couple of great shows ending this season. (Though SGA has been more erratic this year.)

I watched BL last night. It was great as usual, they were crazy as usual, and they made me cry--as often happens. Spader is always fantastic, but Shatner really showed with BL that he CAN act. The two of them have great onscreen charisma. Candace Bergen and John Laroquette also remind me that they are good actors.

Like you, I will miss this show.

Did you see James Spader on 'Ellen' yesterday? It was very funny as he described what an effort it was to drag himself from his chair in his trailer to his chair in the studio, to the chair on the set. Which is why he was saying he needs to exercise more. Ellen wasn't thrilled by his treadmill in his garage, as it's boring, but did say she would work out with him! AQnyway, it was very cute!
I'm at work now, worn out. Thank God it's nearly over. I'm pooped!
