Superbowl stuff
Feb. 2nd, 2009 08:21 pmMy fav commercials were the Bridgstone tires moon buggy, the takeoff on Scarecrow from Wizard of Oz, both the Pepsi (MacGruber w/ RDA and the Bob Dylan one) and Coke (the insects stealing the bottle of Coke,) the talking babies and of course, all the Bud Clydesdale commercial.
The Jack in the Box one, with Jack getting hit by the bus is...edgy? I don't know how I feel about it. I've always enjoyed Jack's commercials. Is his life really in danger and the character is on the way out? Seems unlikely. So is this more like a deathfic where you can pull a cheap trick to engage people's emotions? Is it too dark with respect to all the horrible crap that's on the news each night? I did go to the website and the faux realism mixed with a tad of comedy seems flat to me. Well, it's something different I suppose. http://hangintherejack.com/
I also discovered that Comcast viewers in Tucson got a bit of a shock:
"With under three minutes left and just after Larry Fitzgerald's heroic comeback(ish) touchdown for the Cardinals, the video feed abruptly switched to a scene from stablemate channel Club Jenna, treating viewers to the sight of seemingly omnipresent porn guy Evan Stone swinging his junk around like a maniac. This interlude lasted about 30 seconds."
The site has a vid clip of what was shown. This makes Janet Jackson little escapade look positively Puritan. I have to say if I was a parent watching this with young children present, I would be livid. Obviously it's sabotage but it just goes to demonstrate how blind angry vindictive people can be that they would knowingly upset so many innocent people to get their pound of flesh. I'm not a prude but that was just wrong, wrong, wrong.
