Well, it certainly gives one a lot to think about. And I might as well join the herd of commentors (commentators?)
So, Chuck is God (not to mention a mouthy avatar for Kripke.) God thought this whole thing was to test the brothers and they came though it well. God believes in free will. His angel creations were being way too pedantic and were about to destroy a world that contains booze, smokes, phone sex and God's favorite creations, humans. Can't have that. God arranges the angelic battling Bickerson Bros to end up locked away together forever. Free will Dean chooses to risk everything to be with his brother at the bitter end, choosing love of family above all else. Sam (and didn't Lucifer sound an awful lot like Sam when he was trying to talk Michael out of fighting?) uses the power of love of family to beat Lucifer. Humans, speciflically Sam and Dean, maintain their status as God's favorite toys because they had choice and chose correctly.
I loved that Cas and Bobby and the Impala are still around. Loved the Impala homage. Loved all the superb acting. Loved that Cas healed Bobby of his broken back when he brought him back to life. Loved that Sam is not in hell.
Liked that Dean wasn't overly thrilled with a lifetime ahead of domesticness. It looked more like the hair shirt he had to wear in punishment for being a sole survivor. Liked that Cas was new and improved--but what sort of future will Cas have in the show? Being a fully functional angel (or did God give him a promotion to archangel since Michael is awol?) is a very powerful card to play if they're back to hunting wendigos.
Didn't much care for Chuck being God, or the very tiresome breaking of the forth wall so Kripke can tell the fans how annoying they are to expect a solid, well written ending (that he's had five years to prepare for.)
I'm very glad this whole apocalypse thing is done with. And thank Firefox for the built in spell checker because I've never managed to spell apocalypse right. And I'm glad my poor SPN-loving friends are done being tortured with this story arc!
