Varmit Report
Jun. 16th, 2003 04:26 amThe hills are alive with the pitter patter of of tiny little feet.
Cutiepie, the precocious baby raccoon of two summers ago has finally brought her latest family to eat, drink and be merry. Last summer she had 3 babies, this year, it's four little puff balls. It's like a three ring circus out there, particularly when you add in the baby skunks and a few possums. The skunks bounce around like windup toys as they charge and retreat...sometimes reversing themselves right off the stoop, then they leap to their feet, with a "I meant to do that!" The baby raccoons are hysterical as they try to unravel the mysteries of eating grapes and shelling peanuts. Much of the food ends up in the water bowls and the big plastic tub that we fill with water. Of course, the bowls and tub also get filled up with goofy raccoons. The cats sit on the tree ring and frown at all the activity, obviously convinced the neighborhood has gone to hell, which I suppose from their viewpoint, it has.
I've been snapping photos and shooting very dark movies with my digital camera. I'll eventually figure out how to put a shot or two on the LJ.
Big Reg has a very ugly ouchie on his cheek and an appt. for the vets on Tuesday. He sits very still as he stoically allows me to dab antibiotic cream on the mess. He doesn't act sick or like it bothers him at all, so I suppose it can wati til Tuesday. It's almost time to get his blood tested again; maybe we'll be finally able to stop the diflucan, fingers crossed.
Brindle continues to become calmer and hardly ever flies into a rage anymore. He did kill a beautiful hummingbird and Mom sent him a mental image of disapproval. He leaned over and bit her, so maybe they are psychic, eh? Scooter is more mellow, too, but he's showing his age. His top two fangs have fallen out, but he seems fine about it and as none of the other cats mock him, it appears to be a non-issue.
And I think I'll take a moment to test out something. This is a I think Lex would make a great Immortal test and a public display of either my aptitude or ineptitude.
I suppose I'll have to post a con report of FanOdessy at some point. The bottom line is that Michael Shanks and the other guests were delightful while the con itself was appalling.
And I think I'll try to put up the rest of my old Blakes 7 stories on my webpage before I get too deep in new SG bunnies. It'd be nice to cross something off the to do list.
Oh, and I'm jealous that so many of my friends get to spend next weekend doing nothing but reading the next Harry Potter book and sleeping. I will be stomping out disease and saving lives instead. Damn.
