He's gone!

As of 8pm tonight, Garage Guy is now Basement Guy and is someone else's problem. He, of course, disappeared to visit a friend just as we were getting ready to open up my car so he could start packing and didn't come back for nearly 2 hours and it was dusk. We were moving everything out of the garage at this point (to lock him out if he didn't show up soon) so he just pitched in to help--he didn't have any other choice really. He did develop a bad back all of a sudden, and once at the new place, was suddenly horrified by the dust (carpet will be laid in a few days) and the lingering new paint fumes. It's been 7 days since the paint was put on, and if he was really worried about the dust, I would have thought he would have wanted to damp mop earlier in the day perhaps?? He was fretting that the dust would hurt his dog. I looked and sniffed and honestly told him I would have no qualms about sleeping there. And then we left.

Since it's cold and dark now, I'll put the locks on tomorrow. I am very, *very* relieved that this is, hopefully, all behind us now. I think I've been cured from personally doing someone a good turn.

It wasn't completely smooth, but the deed was done by the end of the day and that's what counts.

I've got Christmas Eve and Day off, and New Year's Eve. I worked all of Thanksgiving and NY day, so it turned out well this time. Will you have a Christmas Eve party at work at least? A potluck? Some sparkling cider at least??

I had the day after Thanksgiving off, and the Saturdays in the month of December are mine this year, that's why I'm stuck. NY eve too, but that doesn't bother me.

We've had a couple of Xmas parties at work. Last week was the hospital's lunch party, including pix with Santa. Today the docs hosted a lab tea which was really nice, and fun. Our prezzes were gift certs to Trader Joes. And I hear tell that 1-800-AUTOPSY has given us a bunch of homemade tamales - packed in a black coffin! We've also been munching on goodies from Harry and David the docs had sent in.
