One lone raccoon snuck up and ate some kibble tonight! He seemed cautious but not particularly worried about dog smell, so that's good. Also, it's supposed to rain for the next 4 or 5 days so maybe that will take care of the doggy smell even faster (not to mention maybe make for some cold, wet and hungry raccoons.)

Also, I've spent the last couple of nights burning dvds of all the programs that have piled up on tivo in preparation for Alias Smith and Jones marathon on New Year's Day. I have to work that night, so I'm going to have leave most of them on and make dvds the next day, but still it's for a wonderful cause! :->

I find that many times I have one episode of many series and they are going hodgepodge on the dvd disks.
Without A Trace --Suspect.
Dead Zone--Cabin Pressure.
Forever Knight--Ashes to Ashes.
Andromeda--Day of Judgement, Day of Wrath.
Now and Again--There Are No Words.
And that last Boston Legal--Hired Guns.

The biggest chunk that will have to be weeded out is the 20 episodes of Stargate that I have on there. Even though I have all the DVDS, I just can't do without some on the Tivo. Essentials are:
Legacy, There But for the Grace of God, Dead Man Switch, Crystal Skull, Chimera.

Ones that I'm going to have to probably delete are: The Light, Fallen, Point of View, Shades of Grey, Evolution #2, The Tomb. These all have a great moment or two, but are they worth staying on Tivo?? I think maybe The Light will have to stay.

Then there are the S8s, of which I have 8 of them; I've apparently already deleted Covenant and Sacrifices. I suppose New Order will have to go and Zero Hour. I really want to keep Lockdown and Affinity. Avatar and Icon has some good bits, too. End Game I like for the Daniel and Jack scenes towards the end.

Looking over the first group, I see an engaging script and episodes that have personal interaction between the characters (except for Dead Man Switch which I like for Aris Bock and how he makes each of SG-1 react.)

The second group may have good scripts, but they lack a certain emotional payoff. Evolution has Jack rescuing Daniel but it's too quick. In the Tomb, I love that moment when Daniel stands up to meet Jack and draw his attention while Sam and Teal'c assertain whether Jack has been goa'ulded--I love his breathy little "hi", but maybe not enough to keep on Tivo. For POV, it's that moment when Daniel is revealed to be captured by the Jaffa and Jack must lay down his weapon. Fallen has naked Daniel (huzzah!) but also that moment when Jack sees Daniel for the first time and his knees nearly give out from the shock of it. Shades of Grey is quite intense but there's a brutality to it that makes it hard to watch.

I guess then that I should probably find Lockdown and Avatar to have 'legs' for rewatching because of the character interaction. Affinity should go, but Daniel is in handcuffs and is valued for his abilities and that is rare, rare, RARE in the SG universe! I like Icon but it's not really a SG episode (but it does have Jack being worried and persistent about getting Daniel back.)

What to do, what to do?

It's an interesting dilemma you have there. I'm getting used to having episodes of various things on my computer, which means I can have them running in a little corner window while doing work stuff or writing or other computer bits. This is a good thing. Compared to the immediacy of computer-files, even DVDs are slow and awkward. How daft is that?

So, I have no help for you on your Tivo dilemma, except to ask... how much do you want to record Alias Smith and Jones? ;-)

Lots! I was about 13 when this show was on and I was completely smitten by it. Two handsome men riding around the West in the classic buddy formula. I didn't know about slash back then but when I did, the penny sure dropped about this show. Just the way those two would smile so fondly at each other would just melt your heart. Anyway, I also had a huge crush on one of the guys. The show has repeated rarely and it was hacked to bits to make room for commercials (all the character stuff was cut in favor of horse chases and gun battles.) Some of this stuff I haven't seen for 30 years, and I'm hoping they've restored the show to its original form.

I'm very excited, as if you can't tell!

I do have the SG dvds, but like what you mentioned about your computer, it's just so nice to have those immediate files ready. And it is daft to angst over episodes that are accessible within a few minutes. I guess it's like a quick fix of my favorite 'drug.' How many episodes do you have on your computer? That sounds like a cool thing though I've not tried to do anything like that on this computer.

Well... I have a few files that I watch often, but not SG, really. NCIS at the moment. If I had the equipment (DVD recorder/HDD, with posh computer attached), I'd have most stuff that I record off the telly onto tape as both mpeg files and DVD - it's nice to be able to take them with you and watch on a big screen. And the programme makers haven't deigned to produce DVDs of shows that I want, which is really quite frustrating.

Yay! I think you may be right about the rain, too. Maybe coon treats would help....as if you needed any encouragement to put those out anyway ;-)

Hope you had a nice Xmas.

I think I need to venture back to Costco for more of their peanuts. They're waterproof. Good idea!

So glad you're getting it. I've been meaning to call, since I have it Tivo'd, too. I need to move Strange off, though; 40 hours just doesn't seem to go that far. ;+>=
