Got free stuff you want to give away?

As I was browsing the net tonight, I came upon this:

"Dozens of you recommended the www.freecycle.org mailing list, where subscribers can post messages offering free merchandise they want to give away or requesting items they need."

I've got a few extra appliances that need a new home (coffee maker, blender/food mixer thing, etc) so this seems like a good thing. Sometimes when I try to give to charities, they are so picky.

I didn't know they were picky! In what way? Looking forward to amusing story about this by the way! I usually just bag or box stuff up and leave it at the Sally Army place in Downey, because a) it's nearby and I'm lazy and b) they've never complained to me. (so far)
