It figures
Jun. 16th, 2005 03:25 amFor the last six months, I had planned to have some little trip or something to look forward to each month. As I slaved away at work the past three nights, it occured to me there was nada, nyet, zip in the works. So I fixed that tonight.
The Plans:
I registered for ComicCon and booked a hotel for Friday night (and probably got one of the last available hotel rooms in San Diego for that time period.) I plan to get there early, okay, earlyish on Friday, and return for more on Saturday because that's when SciFi usually trots out the talent. There's never any announcement until a week or so before the con, so it's a crap shoot. There will probably be a Harry Potter and Serenity thing though, so it'll be fun even if the Stargate franchise is a no show.
I called Bunny and wished her a happy birthday (had to call her back because suddenly the coyotes were carrying on behind the house, loud enough that she had to ask what that commotion was, and as Brindle was out there somewheres we had to search for him. He was MIA at that time, but is safely in the house right now.) I booked a corner room at the Luxor (the ones with the spa since it is my birthday right around then) for Thursday, and e'd Bunny and asked if she'd like some house guests for Friday night/Saturday.
And as I clucked like a proud hen over my bits of paper with confirmation numbers on them, I realized, that yes, I was going to be away from Tivo for the first two episodes of the new season of Stargate. I swear I'm always gone walkabout when there's something I've been waited for for months on the tv.
I wonder if the Luxor and the Wyndham San Diego at Emerald Plaza get Scifi?
Me wanna see the pretty, shiny, scruffies!!
The Varmit Report:
And for those that care, Cutiepie was here tonight (about 3 hours after the coyote stuff) and she still has six with her. They are adorable. She was plopped on the stoop and awash in little round furries doing the cutest things. One was hugging her from behind, them little arms reaching around her waist, one was standing in front of her, them little arms around her neck as he licked her face. One was laying on her back behind her, them little arms just waving joyeously about in the air and she rolled from side to side. One was splashing in the water bowl until a big skunk came by, shoved the little guy over on his back and sat in the bowl, covering it like a cassorole dish lid (he had to tuck his head down to be able to drink the water beneath him.) Another one was discovering the delights of the bristly dragon thing that scrapes off the mud from the soles of your shoes. And another one was standing with his face and front feet against the glass door, looking in at us.
Mom told me the other night she forgot to put the food out. She looked up at one point to see Cutiepie standing up right against the door, staring in intently with a hint of desperation in her expression. I can't say I blame her!

Date: 2005-06-16 04:05 pm (UTC)Thanks for letting me know you like the varmit reports. While they are entertaining to me, I wondered if others read them, too (besides moonchild.) I appreciate it and will continue. :-)

Date: 2005-06-16 06:43 am (UTC)The varmints sound adorable. We used to feed a family of raccoons on our porch, we'd leave food out for them and watch when they came to eat. Unfortunately, we had full length windows, and one night the raccoons decided we hadn't left out enough food; so they all crowded up to the window and started pushing on the screen, trying to get in! The dog was going crazy, my sisters and I were screaming, the raccoons were jumping around getting excited... We closed the glass and they destroyed the screen. Couldn't break the window though. If we hadn't been home, they would have made it into the house.
Mom made us stop leaving food on the porch that night...

One of the things I have to do today is buy a new screen door. The past 4 years of raccoon play has shredded it beyond any useful function. So, I now know where you get your sensible nature from--your mom!
